  1. What Larry said! Great group of people involved with Sun. Fran
  2. Absolutely.... back in the days of the "Throw As Much Stuff At The Wall As Possible And See What Sticks" era of drum corps programming! Fran
  3. Yes. Until the corps was absolutely hosed at DCI Prelims that year. Fran
  4. Heh... I was in a local (Baltimore) Panera Bread place today and saw a poster on the community bulletin board that said, "The Future is Fusion" Fran
  5. I will be requesting a pronunciation guide for that first name. Fran
  6. The current Colts with Peyton Manning are probably better. Fran
  7. Plus, it should be several degrees warmer in Pearl River than it will be in Green Bay. Go Sun in '08!!!!!! Fran
  8. I gotta wait another year, gosh-darn it. 2009..... hopefully Barbara and I can make the trip! Fran
  9. There was an album produced during that time period called "5.0." It featured the Argonne Rebels and Madison Scouts, the two corps whose brass lines had scored a perfect 5.0 in that new Content Analysis caption. Fran
  10. I am so sorry to hear this news. I had the privilege of working with Harvey in 2001 and 2002 when I did the PA work for the DCI East show, the two years the show was held in Philadelphia. What a gentlemen, and a class act all the way. It was the first time I had worked with the full DCI touring crew, and he went out of his way to make me feel welcome and feel like part of the team. Great chief judge, too. He knew the rulebook inside and out. RIP, Harvey. Fran
  11. Molly..... welcome to the Sunrisers! Ben.... welcome back!!!! Fran
  12. Or has he been elected to the Hall three times and kicked out twice? Fran
  13. Corps on steroids could perform their shows multiple times on a given night.... thus allowing DCI or DCA to keep the number of corps at a given contest to a minimum. Instead of a seven or eight-corps contest, there could be a three-corps contest, with each performing two or three times that night. Fewer corps per show. Think of the money that could be saved here for a contest sponsor!!!!!!!!! Fran
  14. Heh... once, the local-circuit junior corps where I marched got "zeroed out" by one field brass judge, but got a pretty decent score from the other field brass judge at the same show. (Back in the old "symmetrical drill" days when there was a field brass guy for each side of the corps.) That day, we chose to believe that the judge who gave us the decent score was the better judge.......LOL Fran
  15. That is the one and only Nat Mazyck....... longtime Sunriser, great guy!!!!!! Fran
  16. Heh.... the cats run the place. We're just the wait staff at the Cat Vacation Resort. Fran
  17. Wait a second... she was NOT with Chuck Quackenbush last year.... Barbara does plan to be there.... she will not be performing with the Westshoremen Alumni this time around, but will be at the show, if all continues to go well. I do plan to perform with the corps, again if all goes well between now and then. That is, if you can call what I do "performing." Fran
  18. I hear ya! On the DCA/all-age side, the Skyliners did some outstanding color presentations. "I'll Walk With God"....."The Longest Day"...."Victory at Sea"....among others. Great stuff! Another of the all-time great color presentations, IMO, was Yankee Rebels' "Requiem For An Era"... 1969-70-71. Awesome. Fran
  19. I'm not totally sure about this, but the Grenadiers that were mentioned might be the Grenadiers from the Endicott, NY, area. Fran
  20. I thought it was a picture of Jon Lovitz in drag. Fran
  21. Not true.....LOL I hope the Hip Pickles will be there again.... they've been a regular at the Forum show for a bunch of years. And it's nice to see the Reilly Raiders back in the lineup!!!!! Fran
  22. Wow..... having the Royal Airs there would be cool! I'm pretty sure the Bridgemen Alumni have the Forum show on their schedule, and Westshoremen Alumni will be there again. I have no clue as to the rest of the lineup this year. Fran
  23. Yes... and their waistline bracket, too!!!!! Fran
  24. Heh...... when I first saw the title of this thread, I thought it meant that the average age in DCA was in the 60's, 70's and 80's, depending on the year. That would bring a new meaning to the title "senior corps"......LOL Fran
