  2. Great news for you guys Mike! We are looking for some big things from SW 2006!
  3. "J.C. SuperStar" was not music written for the screen. SCV "Phantom of the Opera" was not movie music (before someone names that show).

Corps are far to important now. 2004 Cavies just won with all movie music 2005 Cadets with a bit of Kill Bill and Dancer in the dark 2003 SCV the movie Pollock PR King of Kings 2002 Cadets the movie Field of Dreams 2000 BD music from Psycho, Vertigo, North by Northwest
  6. I love Skyryders and all these shows, but all these shows, except OZ, were written for the stage (later made into movies.) Wizard of Oz was a scrore writen for the screen, and the best movie-music Drum Corp show EVER!
  7. thank you for the link.......... Good darn job cadets!
  8. Sorry Ryan, we sang music from "Jesus Christ Superstar" in my Church......... "I don't know how to love him" ~Two more good ones from SPIRIT~ Precious Lord, take my hand God must be tryin to tell you somethin' Troopers did "He's got the whole world, in his hands"
  9. 83 of course. Go check out Suncoast Sound's 1988 show back to back with Cadets 2005. It shows how Suncoast was so ahead of their time, as Cadets did in 1983. ~everything old is new again~
  10. I can tell you I've gotten some great pay checks here in California for working with guards!
  11. Too many band geeks have infiltrated this web site. I don't dig High School Marching Bands and hate that there are so many band questions on this board. I am not one of you! I'm too big and good looking to be reading BAND posts!
  12. FYI: Cavis opening and closing drill for SPIN CYCLE was Emerald Marquis winter guard drill used the same way. Sylvester wrote the Drill and it worked so well, Cavies marched it on the field. It tested well. Just one example, this is done often.
  13. Phantom Regiment 1991: Color guard on their backs ~spread eagle~ without any apology! That is art!
  14. What a great show........ It was a treat to see Madison and Phantom back to back with such powerful productions. I am gonna pop that DVD in when I get home!.
  15. I just re viewed Suncoast Sound 1988 Check it out, it looks so much like what Cadets did 2005! I have to give Suncoast a nod for being so far ahead of the curve.......... I would like to hear what you guys think after a fresh look at Suncoast 1988 and the winner of 2005.
  16. "HELLO, THIS IS SUNCOAST 1989, WE'D LIKE OUR SHOW BACK PLEASE!"
  17. This is a great WEST vs. EAST stuff The high school dance programs in the West are light years ahead of the USA, by the late 70's and early 80 High schools had huge dance programs. The east coast had many winter guards... When it comes to dance there is only one true way to dance correctly. For you horn players out there try listening to a self taught horn line in the top twelve (NEVER right?). That would be the equivalent of the cavies’ color guard in the 80's. Every body is just doing bad high school drill team. The judges’ sheets were not able to capture movement. Cadets on the east cost didn't move correctly until MID 90's OUCH. Stanley Knob was teaching movement to VK winter guard in the 80 CORRECTLY and the judges were so far behind they could only tell if Marques was marching in a straight line. They would get the better scores because of this. LOOK AT Madison’s opening dance from 1985, it would take other corps 10 years to catch up to this level of movement. BD has had an outstanding movement quality seen since 82. SCV first did well in 1989. Phantom liften their legs in 1987 and 1988 and that was their first attempt at dance. Very drill team once again. Check out VK 1988. Just watch the guards feet, outstanding technical work!!!! 2005 Crown has still not gotten to that 1988 level of correctly dancing! Bluecoats have only moved well for 1 year 2005, and there bodies are still out of control. Its come a long way, but it aint been pritty.
  18. It was all in fun.... Even this old man was not even born until the year after they moved onto "Somewhere" from WSS they did this one for 5 years. Then went back to Rainbow.... I was alive for numers 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and the 15th year!
  19. Good Call. By the way Gene Kelly "NEVER" used an umbrella to dance to ANY of the music Phantom played on the field!
  20. Following the murder of the Pirate King, The new Pirate King emerges and takes the hat and coat from the not yet cold body. The King's sword is taken and plunges into the ground. As the New King dresses in the King's dress clothes, the corp sets of for a company front, as the front hits, the new Pirate King pulls the sword from the ground and lifts it in Victory ! And that my friends, is the night the lights went out in Georgia! By the way, My Pirate King would Kill your tap dancing Gene Kelly or Shark if ever confronted! And then there was CARMEN, who I feel can also kick THAT Gene Kelly's ### given the chance.
  21. Rocky Point Holiday better in 83 then 82.
