  1. I was thinking more of an alum who has been to every show because they are die-hard and like to post on DCP. And no offense taken, I do read the recaps every night! But recaps don't tell me if 10 members all of a sudden do backflips, or if the tenor drums turn upside down to play. That's what I'm looking for!
  2. I can supply the dough.... Get it? Because my name is Cookies. Har har har!
  3. Be the eyes to those who can't see... What type of changes exactly? Where/What? Competitive curiosity will kill this cat.
  4. Everything is a conspiracy when it deals with the competition! I wonder if Cavies will pass them in MN. Can't wait! Although I have a feeling Madison will be 'that' corps that does remarkably well this year! (and more to come). And for any Madison fans, I mean that non-offensively. And to every other fan who wants their corps to do better than Madison.. LET'S GET EM! :)
  5. For the third time... Could someone please answer me: how did Madison jump 4 points in two nights? Did they have any big changes at yesterday's show? Any new GE? I'd like to hear from those related to the organization, or who were at a bunch of shows. Thanks!
  6. How dare the judges put anybody who is normally lower than Madison higher than Madison!
  7. I'm just trying to make you happier.
  8. Like I said earlier: Madison, please share with the rest of the drum corps world how you gained almost 4 full points in two nights. Also not baggin;... but I'm really curious.
  9. I know how you feel. You gotta try and keep hope though. there is a month left! And honestly, trying to get into finals is so much more exciting than being a perennial top 12. The Crossmen have fire... probably a lot more than some of the top 12. Just keep that in mind.
  10. I think a lot of these corps can't wait to get out of the Midwest. No offense... But some of us have been there for almost a month! :)
  11. Crossmen will be fine. Just keep pushing it! You've got so much fan love! Good job Spirit, but not liking the fact there making small baby steps.. Hi Madison, what are you doing that makes you get a 4 point jump the past 2 days? Please stop it. ;)
  12. Cover down: when drill is in straight lines "stay in the cover down file" Dress: making sure bodies are in line side to side (without looking side to side - use eyes) Company front: an over used drill move where the corps gets in a straight line and marches forward together (ex: almost every other show, ever.) Intervals: space between marching individuals should be even on either side. These make good intervals. Arc dress: same as regular dress, but in an arc/curve/circle. To make sure arcs look good, stay on the error on the 'outside' of the arc. If you get caught on the inside it looks like a really bad dent.
  13. 8 to 5, travelling 8 steps between yardlines. Basic marching stepsize. Anything lower is bigger, kids normally start jazz running around 4 to 5. Hard flank is old school direction changes where the the hips "crack' to a new direction underneath the the floating upperbody in a new direction. change. There is a pivot in the feet. Beats per minute. The higher you go, the faster it is... 200 is thought of was pretty darn fast.
  14. I seem to have made an enemy in this thread.. First off, if you are going to -1 my posts because you don't like the idea, grow some balls and tell me why because guess what: you're being childish and your actions are not wanted in a brainstorming thread. Secondly, I'm sure you are the BEST coworker to work with EVER! Thank you to those who have identified what they see wrong with the salary cap idea. In a dream world, DCI finals would rotate from area to area though... no more echo chamber =)
  15. Ok that is fair. And I see your point. So how about if the salary cap then only applied show development: -staff, designers -props, costumes -instruments -anything else a corps can think of to top the competition That being said, if we stuck on your idea about non-profits around the country..... you would run into the same problems. Some corps will afford big buses to chauffeur the staff. As a staff I'd pick to go there If there was a 'salary cap', it would need to be a full on salary cap in terms of the organization. That way, the rich don't keep getting richer, and the poor can stop getting poorer.
  16. Whoever -1 my post, can you at least explain a reason why you think it would be a bad idea? It's done wonders for the NHL.
  17. Let's impose a salary cap. Seriously. Everyone runs on the same amount of money. I'd like to see BD or even Vanguard rack in the top staff, when any other corps could afford them too. Why go to Vanguard, when you can go anywhere you want, for the same amount of money. Somewhere maybe you used to march? Somewhere close to your home/family/children? Students would all start to receive the utmost knowledgeable education, thus making them better performers. Not only staff, but in terms of equipment, trucks, buses, housing sites, food etc. Maybe finally we could see the top 7 in the bottom 7, and the bottom 7 in the top 7.
  18. Because the competition got farther away. Me =
  19. these scores make me go... And then... Followed by... (biased, obviously) Edit: followed by...
  20. Somebody got some words across in critique the other night. JKJKJKJK HOLY CRAP I JK CALM DOWN. edit: but seriously, this is fun! Going to be a GREAT mid-season!!
