  1. Where in Canada? Toronto is just as hot in July/ August ❤️‍🔥
  2. Take 2 years out of that to be fair. (Pandemy babe) We have to stop giving "benefits of what ever" to anybody, its making corps doing the same concept of show for 8 years win. Something fresh needs to hinge us off in a better direction. It's all getting a bit tired what style wins year over year. It's not even enjoyable anymore. It's like watching murder she wrote... we all know what's going to happen. Bored!
  3. Agreed, Crown is not even finished thier design pairings... it's still *a lot* but #### do they make it sound so good. I will never count them out, it's just bad science. They have a really dirty show right now. It's who is clean in mid July we should be talking about peaking to be honest. Some of these covid breaks are just like a drag race with a better engine, theu might not jump of the line but as we all know, it's the long game that counts 💃🙃🥳
  4. I think merging activities with different commitment levels has always proved difficult. Look at DCI merging division II & III, it has killed off celebrating different sized corps having an avenue for success. Div III had 45 corps in prelims my first year. Merging commitment levels could prove as disastrous. lots not kill another scene for corps to be celebrated.
  5. A lot of groups do this to maintain focus on their warmup and staying undistracted by what's on the field... it a focus and preparation technique to keep on the job they have ahead of them.
  6. Really? The shako is so "bando" and the side profile is 🤢 They typically have such brilliant uniforms... this year is tacky.
  7. I mean... Texas gotta Texas I guess? We're no talented designers present? This is a huge oversight given how well unformed they have been the last few years with the aussie and arm cutouts. I know, I know... we all know I hate it... can't wait to *hear* the show!
  8. Or... there is Crossmen, whose shakos make them look short and dumpy... it's not just a shakos presence, it's their design ultimately.
  9. I don't Hate it. At least they seem to have a palette that is quite trendy if you look to contemporary fashion and design. If it speaks to the design, a wild use of color always excites. The members seem to be the flags In modern day costuming... Where this can get tricky is in palette control, understanding color theory, palette and motif become more important. Going to see how it all pans out now speaks to design instead of classical uniformity.
  10. It's very much a nod to certain culture, if we are going to do theater we should expect this. It just feels appropriated on a bunch of white kids from Iowa I guess?
  11. This is so fresh and clean in regards to palette! Actually an esthetically pleasing design.
  12. It is so sooo bad. The purple feels tired and the effects are tacky. The plume is too short for the massing on the shakos (also Crossman in shakos... I thought they learned in the late 90'?). Paints need tailoring and the tunics hemmed up two inches at least. They look so stumpy and dumpy. Very much large budget Texas high school with no talented designer to make up for this attempt. So wrong.
  13. I meant stop playing open class, you're done that now. let it be what it is for the groups that are coming up. posted from the DrumScorps app
  14. me thinks ... if you get over an 80 points awarding at World Class you have no business in Open Class any longer. there really should be an activity saved for development. when you have developed it's time to go. make it fair. it's exactly like Onyx and O2 in winterguard. they are good enough to be world now. stop playing world class. it's completely un sportsman like. it is your time to move on. posted from the DrumScorps app
  15. if they are competing in WC prelims those rules should apply. why would they not? I know we let everyone participate in Quarterfinals now but there certainly are rules. posted from the DrumScorps app
  16. Nope, no schooling. You are all correct. It has certainly been their biggest weakness over the years (they've always been VERY strong visually - I believe they've often come close to top 12 in guard way back when Division 2 used to compete in Quarterfinals). Everyone is correct when they say the ensemble sound is fairly thin compared to their immediate competition. I just think this year is probably the strongest, or at least closest to addressing it, in many years. Side note: maybe there are others with more knowledge than me in terms of current membership, but I remember back in the day they used to have a LOT of woodwind players filling out the brass line. back in the days of Division 2/3 (where finals took the highest 5 from 2 and 7 from 3) only corps who broke 90 could advance to Quarterfinals and with good reason. posted from the DrumScorps app
  17. its needs that Dutch Boy 1990s Vegas glitz! posted from the DrumScorps app
