  1. Being part of the "modern" generation, I have found b-flat horns to be just as entertaining and "nostalgic" as g bugles.
  2. So Spirit + Cavaliers fell and everyone else went up a tiny bit.. interesting
  3. I am seeing these on The Cavaliers' facebook page, so I am assuming they're official!
  4. From what I've heard, they have a lot of young members in the corps (little ageouts) and they aren't performing at an incredibly high level - I don't know how accurate this statement is. What I do know is that they have a much better show than last year, and it should be great to see in Indy.
  5. Nice read! Looks like OC is playing it safe in terms of their tour schedule after the switch to World Class.
  6. The directors of these corps are absolutely ridiculous. Drum Corps is about the experience for the participants, a performance art, the music! Not winning! The notion of dividing from DCI simply because they think that they're better than anyone else is repulsive, and if they split, I won't miss them. This is not a message that corps should be trying to promote - I mean, honestly, who would want to join an organization run by self-righteous elitists.
  7. I'm just wondering how they plan to "blend" all of these pieces together - they're very different, especially with the recurring melody in Enterprising Young Men (perhaps they will utilize it throughout the show?)
  8. Via Facebook: "We're finishing up a GREAT 2-day design team meeting here in Rosemont -- The Cavaliers' 2013 repertoire will include the following: - Drum Music/Concerto for Percussion by John Mackey - Enterprising Young Men by Michael Giacchino - Ballet Sacra by David Holsinger Looking forward to sharing more about our 2013 production with the CAVALIER NATION -- Stay tuned!"
  9. I couldn't agree with this thread more, and going further, Drum Corps is not dying - it's changing and constantly evolving.
  10. I thought this was a 2013 show thread...
  11. I want to see Crown win next year, along with that I would like to see The Cavaliers slowly pushing their way back up, as well as seeing the Blue Stars back in finals :)
  12. The Cavaliers are way too popular and successful to be folding anytime soon :P
  13. I thought the whole performance was awkward - you couldn't really hear the band at all, either.
  14. I play Trombone, so I'm assuming I would be playing Euph/Baritone. I like shows that have fast paced music, yet still having a ballad that can have a really awesome impact (those really long notes give me the chills..)
  15. I'm still rooting for the Blue Stars, I have faith in you guys :)
  16. Hey guys, as you can tell, I'm new here (and I probably ended up posting this in the wrong section anyone, haha). There's just a question I have for all of you - yes, I know that dci.org has a bunch of interviews with marchers about corps and other stuff like that, but I really wanted to ask a group of a bunch of die hard DCI fans (many of you also being experienced marchers) - What's the best way to decide which corps I want to march in? I don't plan on marching for another year due to high school, but drum corps is absolutely amazing to me and it is my dream to march in one of these corps. I'm just having issues deciding which one to join, haha. I'm wondering what all the different factors are that I should look at, the pros and cons of different corps, or even just your guy's opinions on them. Right now I have it narrowed down to three different corps that I am really interested in - either Carolina Crown, Blue Stars, or The Cavaliers. Thanks for taking your time to read this guys, and once again, sorry if I posted this in the wrong section :)
