I think Dan F has been paid full time for the last couple of years. The Blue Devils is a fine corps. They also have plenty of angry alumni and former fans. I think the very nature of drum corp is educational and challenging. All the top corps push their members to their limits. I doubt anyone would say they are comfortable, especially physically.

It is normal for PR to work on brass sound quality before volume. Last year they did not add volume pushes until around Atlanta as I recall. Kick haults and other enhancements will roll out on their schedule, not ours. The kids in the corps are having a great time. Most of the fans are too.

I you do not read a lot of old posts, it is tough to figure out why there is so much discontent with the G7. The G7 has a lot more influence of DCI than DCP does. That bothers a lot of people. I'm not sure if DCP has any influence.

I think if they (or any corp that has an identity) does something really different, the critics will come out asking them to return to their roots. I think the votes will swing in favor of tradition.

The focus of DCP is a lot different than the focus of DCI. But both are what they are. Critiquing each corp as to why they do not score better may sound absurd to corp members and staff. After all, they are working to get better every day. They have a plan for how the season will unfold. They are making adjustments along the way. Sometimes they even make the adjustments DCP posters want. DCP is mostly a fan site. It focuses on the competition portion of DCI. We only occasionally talk about the life changing experiences and the rigor of DCI life. I too get wrapped up in watching scores. But this thread reminded me what my kid is getting out of this activity. He is not a music major, so he may never teach these skills to others. But I have seen him grow as a person. I pay a lot for this and see it as a wonderful extension of his college education.

Comments on DCP never look foolish.

I prefer they do not stray far away from their style. There are plenty of other corps to watch for something completely different.

Rehearsals are not closed for secrecy. Campus rules dictate they would need to pay for security personnel if the field was open to the public.

My son, and all his friends there, are having the time of their lives with Phantom this year. We have seen him four times so far. It is normal for them to have staff in/out during the tour. They deal with it and so should we.

Phantom made a lot of changes two shows ago. Just did mostly cleaning the last two days. 4th pace for the moment!
