  1. I believe 2010 Bluecoats ended their show in a "Plus 1", since "The Future is Now". I'll have to jump on Fan network to double check that, though.
  2. I agree with the above people. They could hold their own competitively, but that doesn't mean they could do it financially (Teal Sound and Jersey Surf come to mind) Teal Sound pretty much beat Surf every time in their 2 years together in World Class, but Surf is the one still around, since they have stayed financially stable and kept their limited schedule with a shorter spring training and taking 1-2 weeks off in the middle. If Oregon doesn't have the money to get from Oregon, then through San Antonio/Texas/Allentown before going to Indy, that's completely reasonable. That's a major part of the World Class tour they couldn't skip, and it's definitely much easier for them to not go through Texas on the way to Indianapolis.
  3. As some have said, no playing instruments from the podium. Surf was almost penalized for it and thats why they had to slightly alter that aspect of their show. Apparently trumpets from the synth are better than trumpets from the podium
  4. On tour we use Dawn Dish Soap (blue stuff) when in the shower with them. Wash/scrub everything except the actual valves (take them out before showering) then dry it off with a clean towel. Works better than silver polish in most cases, unless there's bad tarnish (black stuff building up from sweat/whatever else)
  5. If it would have been a financial burden to either the Glassmen or the Colts, they would not have taken on those members. I think another good question is what were those corps doing with that many holes that late in the season?
  6. Blue Devils, Cavaliers, Santa Clara Vanguard, Crossmen, Oregon Crusaders, Jersey Surf And I'm sure around December I'll find another show to listen to frequently
  7. Partly what I hope to happen, primarily what I expect to happen. 1) Blue Devils - There's just no reason to expect anyone else to win. 2) Santa Clara Vanguard - I feel like they're going to rise even more 3) Carolina Crown - We'll see if they prove me wrong. I'm worried that since 2012 didn't win they'll just keep writing the show harder and harder until it breaks through, rather than more creative and innovative design. 4) Cadets - An off year by odd-year standards for the Cadets 5) Phantom Regiment 6) The Cavaliers - I really can't see them being down two years in a row. We'll see. 7) Bluecoats - Another good year, but the top corps are just too good 8) Madison Scouts - Maybe an early show announcement can lead to some more momentum, the crowd is just waiting for this corps to break in 9) Boston Crusaders - I'm surprised they were as high as they were anyway 10) Blue Knights 11) Blue Stars - I feel like they deserved this spot last year, I don't believe they as much credit as they deserve 12) Crossmen 13) Spirit of Atlanta - Not buying into their hype yet. Maybe they can prove me wrong, since everyone else loves them it could just be me 14) Glassmen 15) Pacific Crest - Definitely breaking out of the lower tier of world class 16) Academy 17) Colts (Oregon Crusaders) - Hopefully they get more recognition for what they do. It's a shame Open Class finals had 1/17th of the attendance of World Class finals. And great performance does not mean they should jump to world class, they may not have the financial structure in place to go from Oregon through Texas and Atlanta on their way to Indy, being Open Class is working just fine for them. 18) Jersey Surf - We'll see where their show design goes next year, I hope they can keep the charm from the Bridgemen while keeping their own identity. 19) Troopers - Too much talent to drop further, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them beat Surf or challenge the Colts (Blue Devils B) (Vanguard Cadets) 20) Teal Sound - I hope they can resurge again, I always enjoy these shows. 21) Mandarins 22) Seattle Cascades 23) Pioneer (Rest of open)
  8. General Question for everyone to weigh-in on Which do you think I would regret more 1) Passing up the opportunity to try out for a top drum corps (Madison or BD) and marching there for a season (potentially medaling, etc) 2) Passing up the opportunity to age out with the (non-finalist) corps I've marched with for the past 3 seasons. (I play baritone) Obviously making one of the two corps I mentioned isn't a given, but I like to think I'd have a fairly good chance at either, thanks to the experience and knowledge gained from the corps I could be walking away from.
  9. GE is scored by rounding together the other scores and putting them out of 40, to make sure the corps stay in correct order.
