  1. I wasn't sure if this was an effect they were going for by facing backfield and turning, or if the mics were off. Wondering the same thing.
  2. Feels like a trend in recent years to have a slow intro to a ballad, then bring the tempo up to let the drums build, and then drop the tempo back down for the big hit. I can only think of Cavies 19 off the top of my head that did this as well, but I love it.
  3. Mellos?? Key change?? Come on. How can you not love it.
  4. Those props look...precarious to climb. But more power to em'.
  5. I'm not a drummer by trade but my word that line was ramming. I am 100% along for the ride with this show this year.
  6. Hey, if you're going to have vocals, doing it live is fine by me! I'm very excited to see where that idea goes. Already sounds great.
  7. Little THX style thing going on there with the bones in the beginning! Nice!
  8. Yeah I love some of the risks they're taking in the brass book. I have total confidence they're going to be killing this show by finals week.
  9. I'm thoroughly enjoying this movement, and I'm really excited to see how it evolves throughout the summer!
  10. Always love when a drumline can get involved on a ballad! Solid writing.
  11. Not easy marching with this many holes! Props to the kids for making it work!
  12. Yeah, take it from a band director in rural Ohio, with about as many winds as they had - just getting out there and putting together a show like that is an accomplishment for a lot of those kids. Mistakes are more exposed, and that will always be the catch with a smaller group - but the feeling of pulling off an entertaining show despite your size is SO much more rewarding as a result! Long story short - students that live in small rural areas who maybe only have the resources to march smaller groups still deserve quality education and praise for their efforts!!
  13. Nice moment there - staging different wind sections with different perc sections, layering into the full corps moment. Very effective!
  14. Nice job from Vessel! Short but effective. Drumline is huge but they were haulin' and rammin'!
  15. Still an interesting feature! Will probably use that at some point. I'm often torn between the two.
  16. Playing board games and listening to some shows from years past with the wife in anticipation of the return of competitive drum corps. I’m not sure there’s a closer I love more than 12.25.
  17. Most excited for Mandarins! They really ramped things up at the end of the 2010s - always looking for new competitors in that top 8.
  18. Yeah man. Lots of really good sounds. Great performance!
  19. Hope I can catch the Cavies a couple of more times before I see them live. The show is starting to grow on me! Glad BAC had a good run - didn't sound like their best last night! Get em' Boston!
