  1. This is fun. But....the points and content are valid, accurate and relevant. http://vimeo.com/27566023/
  2. Check the ending where they show the crowd. I wasn't there, but, look at all those empty seats. I'm used to seeing (BITD) in Madison/Georgia Tech packed and tons of people (corps who already performed) hanging out on the back side lines (which I guess DCI closes) and the end zones. If "this" is what is showing up.....it's pretty bad in my opinion the attendance. Madison sounds great and I remember in Atlanta they were the loudest corps there.
  3. I think the biggest difference (and at least I appreciate everything has moved together as a unit) - BITD, the music and drill was fluid. Symmetrical forms (for the most part) and music was fluid, lyrical....corps were "playing a song". Now, drill is broken into fragments, and the music is also percussive and fragmented. I just realized (for me) this is what makes todays shows "not entertaining". Everything is in little chunks - chunks of flash (and/or/plus abstract). I hope that drum corps will get back to music that is "listenable" and drills symmetrical, joined, unit. I appreciate that at least the music and drill are on the same page, but, I feel that whole product (show) is loses me....I can take so much of door knocking. I still get goosebumps on the Garfield z-pulls. I think 2004 Cavies is a brilliant integration of music and drill of what I'd like to see.. Instead of "flashes of technical brilliance", I'd rather listen to a complete song. It's the like everything is upside down. What should be the flash of brilliance to "wow" you is now the "main course" and what should be the main course is now a small moment.
  4. Wayne Downey of BD, Kevin and Moe Smith of Crown, and I all grew up in the same community. I know them to be people of class as are the units they staff. The standard is the needless death of 11 million human lives.

Few of any have agreed with your postings on many threads today. Your DCP reputation is poor for someone so recent to DCP. Whose standards should be in question?

  5. Everything you underlined is my opinion. I'm not following what you want from me.
  6. I think I've stated I'm one person with one voice with one opinion.
  7. Are you serious? Did I judge? I judge it every chance I see it as a member of the general public. Am I professionally hired, no. I don't see the relevance to what I'm talking about. Judging is so unimportant "to me" and I'm thinking the "general public".
  8. Fred, please....I think you're being sensitive (for whatever reason) about labels. If you want to be "real"....DCA is considered "minor league" to DCI. For the very reason you mentioned - practice time, budgets, etc;. It's a very fair statement because it's reality. It is what it is. Doesn't mean it doesn't have merit or validity, it's just in perspective to the comparison. The kids, talent - is not the issue - or how they are as people or how hard they work. The structure, the show designs, direction - what BOTH DCI and DCA are doing and not doing as a single voice from 250 plus million people in the US. A good solution to people behinds in the seats are WC, OC, WC, OC, WC, OC. Scramble the order (TOC does) and people will sit. Plus, it helps with logistics and souvenier, concession sales (gotta pee and don't want to miss. Want to get nachos, extra cheese and skittles without missing a corps). Not everyone is going to get a hotdog and therefore OC get's exposure. It's about the forest not the trees. If you're a DCA fan, you will always be one - but - wouldn't you like to see other people besides DCA fans in the seats TO BECOME FANS?
  9. Semi finals format......WC, OC, WC, OC, WC, OC. Instant audience.
  10. Wh What good corps are still on G tat i can youtube.....any class. Not Marines....dont sound good what I'm finding on youtube.
