  1. I really have to get a copy of that! Loved 91 DJ
  2. Again, I wasn't meaning to offend ANYONE by mentioning Dutchboy...you just don't hear about them too often anymore, and they are a lesser KNOWN corps, not a LESSER corps... I loved Dutchboy growing up... DJ
  3. Still using Pearls... Regards, DJ
  4. Wow..it seems that everybody must have met or know someone that lied about being in BD. How come no one ever lies about being in Dutchboy? (No offense to any Dutchboy members...just arbitrarily picking a lesser known corps to fill in the blank!) DJ BD Alum, 1978-2009 <-- (not really)
  5. The first drum solo I ever played in high school was "Black Market Juggler"...wish I could get my hands on the original sheet music to that! Think I'd frame it... Interestingly enough, I am downloading 1982 Bridgemen as I type this! DJ
  6. You know you're old school when you know what "Off-the-Line" really means... You know you're old school when you know what that gunshot was on the tape... You know you're old school when you know that a "tick" isn't something that bites your leg. Regards, Dan J
  7. My post from the Favorite Sky Ryders post... I REALLY miss this corps! I remember reading about them in a feature in Modern Drummer Magazine sometime back in 89-90...I was in awe of them when I finally saw and met a few of them in 90-91... Quick note: Two things happened in my life that kicked my tail into drum corps...the first was seeing Santa Clara play a standstill at the Santa Clara Parade of Champions after winning DCI in 1989...(really miss that October Parade!). I literally wept in my hands at the end of that one! The second was the aforementioned article in Modern Drummer Magazine, which spoke of the commitment and heart that goes into every corps' season...particularily the Sky Ryders. Wonderful Corps...Bravo! Dan J
  8. Nobody mentioning the 91 Camelot show? Tsk, tsk! I was in awe as a tenor player in the 91 Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets drumline, when I first saw the Sky Ryders do that show...I have a judges tape (I wannna say Alan Christiansen?) I traded with one of them I think...I loved the drum solo when the corps did this ominous chanting and the snare lick came up...and I vaguely remember them doing a clean-### roll as the snare line knealt down and back up...beautiful. Wish I could find someone who marched that year! I need another copy of that show! Regards, Daniel J
  9. What's hardest? Requires more chops? Everybody knows the answer to that... ...tenors. (I'm ducking now) Dan
  10. Perhaps you could elaborate a bit? I know things are always speculative at this point in the off-season, but you've piqued my interest... Dan J
