  1. Hey, like I said I meant no offence or harm. I've done HG myself (with photos to prove it) for the CNY parade. It was a ROUGH gig. Tougher than playing in the show for sure. (love being a pitster). I can def see why HG are necessary in parades, I just didn't know if they were necessary @ shows and since there are no color pre anymore in modern DCA or DCI shows, I just didn't understood why they where on the field (to a point). In terms of the HG being the ultimate camp/rehearsal Swiss army knife (to pit it mildly per previous posts) I’m sorry but I’ve never really experienced that so I didn’t know. Being a 30 y.o West coaster I’m still relatively new to how DCA works. *shrug* My B I guess.
  2. Now before anyone drags me out to the woodshed or something hear me out. If I understand the rules as they are now. To compete @ DCA finals you have to have an honor guard right (please correct me if I am wrong). However with DCA evolving (as with the rest of the activity) I just wonder if there will be a time when the HG becomes a thing of the past just line in DCI. It seems like DCA has somewhat mirrored DCI in a lot of things (Bb horns, time limits, etc, amps… ((One DAY.. oh PLEASE one day)) ) but the HG is still in tact. With the HG there, folks have to worry about breaking the invisible plane of Old Glory which can be a little stressful and kinda (IMO) makes entry/exit pretty routine for everyone. No unique “on the starting line” or pre-opener type stuff (see cadets 05 for an AWESOME example or a pre-opener) Plus isn’t it a tad on the stressful side fir a corps struggling to fill their performing ranks to also have to try and put together a proper HG? More bodies, more uniforms, more expenses to stress over. I don’t mean to offend anyone. Maybe I’m just a youngin (at 30...and more Pro WGI) but truth be told the first time I ever saw an HG was 2k2 and I was like "umm what’s that…"
  3. Did any of you out there (past or present) have a special pre show or secret handshake? I know some sections do it for hype and I remember having one for each section I've been apart of. Was it simple or complex? Is it a passed down tradition or do you make up a new one every season (or add on to an existing one)?
  4. That's correct. I didn't put Musser into the hat because they are just so bloody expensive. I'm trying to get the most bang for out buck. I was hoping someone knew of a lesser know or starter company that's trying to get their name out our is willing to give some good prices.
  5. Is there any other company out there besides Yamaha, Adams, Majestic, Dynasty and Premier that makes front ensemble/concert equipment?
  6. Congrats But.... pics or it didn't happen
  7. :big hug: Said it the Jr Corps forum and I'll say it again... I CALL
  8. Like I said in the Jr Forums... I’d fork over a nice HUGE chunk to DCA IF they were willing to move champs to a centralized location that next year (or to Camp Randall) If not then WGI would get a nice donation and the two drum lines I teach would be going to Dayton with all new equipment
  9. Sooooooooooooooooooo this new circuit will come in direct conflict with WGI?
  10. Hmmm with all this G and Bb and electronics and Cook shafted star and yadda yadda… I think I’d just try to purchase DCI and DCA… then hand them over to WGI. All ya’ll are going to Dayton for finals FOREVER! Synths and sampling.. all IN! Oh I could go on and on…. Yeah that’d fix everyone’s lil red wagon.

  12. Huh. I never knew how much tickets were going for. I'm sure that was just a price oversight by the venue and city. No matter where DCA moves to they'd have to make good with the locals (clinics @ HS, Colleges, festival stuff, parade of champions, etc etc) That whole if you build(hype) it, they will come bit still holds some water IMO
  13. I may be wrong but I remember seeing quite a few locals (lots actually) in the WS stands despite the pretty crappy weather @ that show. I do believe the majority of them were students involved in HBCU bands in the area. So, in theory you may not get hard core DCA fans outside the NE but it is possible to make up for those numbers but local pageantry fans.
  14. Win. I sir to your superior intellect and logic.
  15. Trying to figure out who people hate more on here… The Blue Devils Or The New York Yankees.
  16. I like the idea but, Are we talking about a regional in a neutral equidistant location? If not that’s gonna break a few corps banks…
  17. Meh.. I'll put up my list 2008 Phantom Regiment 2008 Blue Devils 2008 Bluecoats 2007 Blue Devils 2007 Bluecoats 2006 Blue Devils 2005 The Cadets 2004 Blue Devils 2004 Santa Clara Vanguard 2003 Blue Devils 2003 Phantom Regiment 2003 Crossmen
  18. Didn't knoe the Cavies were going by "Green Thunder" now... yeah I'm thinking bogus Hey SDCA....
