  1. update... we are having an issue with the venue. As soon as that is square all the info will be out. I would like to thank all those so far who have thrown their support this way. It is for a great guy we do this, and all of your help will make this a huge success!
  2. First we are awaiting some answers on some key issues. We should have a PO Box set up tomorrow, the location should be locked in in the morning, How to pay for the dinner.... etc. soo.. so for the time being here is the most important thing you can do.... email all questions about donations, or how you can help... to the new email we set up for the event. The email is FriendsofJerome@bridgemen.com This will make sure you get to the right people!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I will Tommy. I should have all the info squared away by Sunday. Then we will put out a full flyer on the night. Also, just to get started.... I will be contacting as many of the corps directors as possible to help us to prepare for our tricky tray. If you don't know what it is, a tricky tray is an auction where people purchase tickets and then place tickets in a bucket to win a specific prize... its run much like a fifty/fifty only the winner gets the item that is being raffled off. We will be asking the corps to donate an item or theme prize to be auctioned off. For further info you can contact me.
  4. I just spoke with him a few minutes ago... he's just as nutz as always.... It looks like he will be in for a while longer. Hopefully he will be home in time for his dinner!!!!!! We're thinking of turning it into a roast.... anyone wanna take some shots at the big guy??? NOV 17th would be the time :P
  5. to all that have contacted me so far... thank you. I will have a flyer out by the end of the weekend with all the specifics.
  6. We will cover the costs for the event... so all donations can be made payable directly to Jerome Kimbrough. and mailed to "Friends of Jerome" C/O G&R Commodities 571 Bloomfield Ave suite 204 Verona, NJ 07044
  7. we are still working out those details... I will put donation instructions up as soon as we have proper account info.
  8. The friends of Jerome Kimbrough will be sponsoring a benefit dinner to help our dear friend...... As many of you know, Jerome is a lifelong member of the drum corps community. He started of in the Bridgemen Kidets, then on to 5 seasons with the Bridgemen, 2 seasons with the Garfield Cadets, and over 20 years with the Bushwackers. Because of physical ailments, Jerome lost his foot two weeks ago. Now before you go feeling horrible for him, he is in great spirits!!! He wants everyone to know he is OK, and looks forward to resuming his very active lifestyle and getting back to his career as a chef. However he has been in the hospital for quite some time and will remain there for some time longer. So... We, Jerome's family and friends, will be hosting a benefit dinner at St Andrews in Bayonne, NJ on the night of November 16th. It will be a night of fun, food, and drink... but most of all, all the proceeds of the event will be used to get Jerome "back on his feet" again! We need as much help and support as we can get to make this night a great success!!!!!!!!!! I will follow this with more information about the time and details of the event. If you are interested in attending, please email me at friendsofjerome@bridgemen.com for more information. we look forward to a big crowd and a great night!!!
  9. not really? the only thing I can think of is retreat.. because we always messed our horns up on retreat. but there was like no retreats in 85. usually only DM retreats ( I only remember because my wife, who was my girlfriend at the time, always had to hang around to go on retreat)... but life on the line guess???? << Jerome >> ^0^ edit for sp
  10. come on... we did some of the same shows together :P
  11. Chris, my old friend, why-oh-why would you want this???? :P
  12. no question... the girls from Hicksville were everything a guy could ever ask for
  13. you want to carry it??? I just wish some one would carry me!!
  14. whoa... what the #### is that supposed to mean????????????????????????????????? :P
  15. its a great photo because its filled with yellowy goodness :P
  16. and I listened to the Dennis interview as well... and if it was the only thing I had heard from the Bridgemen I'd say "close the doors and lets all go home!!!!" :P but really, come on, its a field interview and you just hear individuals playing as they go by. I think if you stepped back a little and heard our 69 horns playing as a group, it will sound a tad better than that recording. and if someone wants to say that people are or aren't real this, or real that, I say "who cares". We have a lot of fun doing this thing and that's really what its all about. The Bridgemen have always been about family and having fun. We're not about excluding people...... do we have our share of family problems? sure we do and we don't always get along with each other... but we are still one family. If someone wants to tell me Marwan or those like him are not Bridgemen? I say then they're never gonna get it. Yes I am a alumnus of the junior corps days having marched 4 years with the big corps... and I feel a certain type of kinship with those that marched with me and before me back in the day...its natural to do that.... but just like the Bayonne Bridgemen were different than the St Andrew's Bridgemen we are still one family united under our name. We are THE Bridgemen!! past, present, and future!!! oh and to get back on topic?? I'm glad our organization was able to do something to show our respect and admiration for a great corps. George B and the 27 alums deserve to be recocognized!!!If you choose to look at it differently than that... well than so be it.
  17. ha!! as many times as I've seen uniform stuff get stolen... I'll say they are real!!!
  18. without going back and referencing all the comments... I take no offense to people referring to the Bridgemen as being defunct. The Bridgemen, as I (and I believe my fellow alumni believe), is gone (much to my displeasure :P ) the Bridgemen alumni corps is just that.. an alumni corps... and should never be looked at the same as the competitive junior corps. What we did as kids will always be looked at as something completely different. Not that we don't LOVE doing the alumni corps thing... it's just not the same. :)
  19. no...nononononononono....nonono...nono...no too old, too tired... and having too much fun doing it this way instead :P
  20. we stated putting some seconds on euph as well!!
  21. yeah and Jim might be at a 10 degree angle but is he watching the conductor??? No I think not!! :P three other comments... 1) if Chris B was there, the worms would have been very entertained, 2) Pepe is gonna have the shock of his life when his euph arrives next week... and 3) Rodney needs a bigger chair :sshh:
