  1. BlueStainGlass, just curious. Do you believe a drum corps hornline can be sucessful with a caption head that has no drum corps brass marching experience. I don't really know.
  2. I'm glad someone brought this topic back up. I want to say bravo to the Crown colorguard. I am amazed at how much they improved from the beginning to the end of the season. Great work!!!
  3. Ramming is what I call it as well. Sorry for the confusion.
  4. Thank you for the comment, Mr. Freedman. What you suggest is plausible, but even if the book was easier there is liitle excuse for the amount of musicality in it. One many occassions I have heard the muffler section and it's awful musically. It was very difficult to parse out the phrases they were playing. To me, it sounded like high pitched white noise. And the other drum feature the snare just hit the heads really loudly. Again, a complete like of phrasing. You can have an easier but musical and melodic book to play is my point.
  5. I am perfectly capable of understanding what you said. What I called it was lip service. I can answer your question easily. I offer opinions that people like or dislike. This is a hobby and a good distraction when I need one. On DCP I can't control whether people care about what I say or don't. If people care to take me seriously, good. If not, their loss. I don't post on here to please people. You claim to want respectful and civil dialogue, but what exactly would that look like to you? See, I believe this will be very difficult for you to answer because you have gone way over the top with your concept of absolute positivity.
  6. Thank you for your opinion, seen-it-all. This is an opinion board where people offer their perspectives on certain issues. You say that one is allowed to critique an alumi and don't need to be a blind loyalist, but in the context of your whole message, this seems to be more lip service than anything else. I don't know you, drum corps is not a sacred entity. This is a place where people can come and just talk junk if they wish. You seem to take many people on DCP way too seriously. So, if I understand the point you wish to make. The only place that one can say anything negative about the corps is to the organization itself. In turn, nothing negative should be said on DCP turning into a purely postive place for people to come and just sing praises (e.g., worship) about all drum corps organizations (e.g., the sacred entity). The person I am today I do not owe to a drum corps. There are many more important things to attach ones identity to. To ME, this is a message trying to quilt people into silence and really nothing more.
  7. Good points both Jeff and Kamarag. Thank you for the good kick. Moving forward. Crown has made a percussion change. All we can do is wait and see what happens.
  8. I don't mind owning my own words, sir. What i dislike very much is hypocrisy and double standard and I will point it out to certain users on a consistent basis. The point is not woe is me but to highlight people's hypocrisy and double standard. But I do understand how you would perceive what I'm doing as feeling sorry for myself.
  9. tesmusic, the comment does have merit, if the goal is to be a consistent championship contender. PR is not right now
  10. Ok...what I'm going to say ACTUCKER is sacrasm but not aimed at you. For all the Crown alumi who have just let loose against me, why are you not pouncing on actucker. Isn't he part of the problem rather than the solution? Actucker, I actually agree with you in you last post. There is little musically in battery ram and for me, the muffler thing didn't work because it sounded like high pitched sounding white noise. No good delineation of acutal notes being played. It just wasn't very musical playing to me.
  11. actucker, I think Peter has hit on a good distinction that many here do not really look at carefully. If I watch Crown's show from an expectation of entertainment, even from a percussion perspective. Competitively, I agree with you. I look much more to the competitive side.
  12. That's the great thing about DCP, year1buick, you can have an opinion and post it here.
  13. I'm actually at a loss for what SCV could do. I would love to see a pure jazz show from beginning to end though.
  14. Just curious and It may be a long story but why has it been so difficult for PR to retain staff?
  15. Again, however, you miss the point. It is unlikely that PR can medal in 2015 with JT at the helm and with the current makeup of the staff. If they do, however, great.
  16. But you didn't provide rebuttal. I'm never afraid to be challenged, but you and I both know that PR is not a consistent championship contender, and actually the internet seems to be more scary for you considering your need to you sacrasm to make a point.
  17. Oh...everyone. We have another OPINION POLICE in zachariaswmb. Again, the point is that PR is not usually a consistent championship contender and it's unlikely they will be in 2015. Nothing wrong with this.
  18. That's just a prediction, based upon several factors though. First, PR has changed a good amount of staff, which doesn't usually bring about a championship caliber corps in a year. I don't see top three for them. Second, GE and visual are very integrated now. So, they would not a balance of cleanliness with the right difficulty of drill to excel visually. It could happen, but not likely. Don't get me wrong I like PR, especially in 2010 when they came in 6th. But, it will take a lot to get them into the top 5 with this design team.
  19. There is nothing wrong with JTs work. A 6-9 placement isn't bad at all if this is the goal of the corp.
  20. It seems that Phantom's goal at this point is to stay in the top 12 and in the short term will not be making a big push as championship contender. I could be wrong, but historically they have not been championship contenders, but usually bounce all over the place in the top 12. Nothing wrong with this. It just is what it is right now.
  21. Oh...chaos001, there are too many people that take opinions way too personally on DCP. I thought I used to take myself too seriously until I started posting here and seeing the just over the top reactions by some users. THERE ARE TOO MANY OPINION POLICE!!!!!!!!
  22. Did I forget something or is chaos001 not allowed to have an opinion on DCP Sutasaurus? If this gentleman's work is substandard, it will soon show. If not, then chaos001 will be wrong. So why the frustration over an opinion.
  23. I know it may not matter to you, (no insult taken), and I agree minus number 1. By the way, Kamarag...the Crown alumi that have been on my tail can't really debate it, which is why they get more personal in their assessment. I have blocked four users (Crown alums) because all they tell me is to be apart of the solution, not the problem. That is a non assessment that I no longer respond to from them. It seems to be a response for the purpose of producing guilt.
  24. Ok...I have nothing against you, Kamarag, but where are all the Crown Alumi who have absolutely pounced on me personally for saying similar things? I don't even suggest like Kamarag does that the recruits have underperformed for Crown the last few years. I'm sorry, some Crown alumi have a double standard when it comes to who can say what when there seems to be a good amount of truth to it. I don't mean to bring the heat on you, Kamarag. I am trying to point out to certain users about the double standard they have to attack me more personally on DCP and in private messaging when I say similar things simply because I marched with Crown from 90-92, but to let a statement like yours, which is true to a certain extent, slide right by without hardly saying a word.
