  1. I had hoped they were really going to PLAY Harlem Nocturne. Here, Bridgemen will show you how:
  2. Why does guard have a collar down near their décolletage?
  3. All those props scattered around reminds me of an episode of Sandford and Son.
  4. Not as blown away as I was by Ouroboros, but I see a lot of potential. Agree with the Gaines comment, I was hoping for more daring drill. I guess props are the new drill.
  5. I sure hope they make the Phantom disappear tonight
  6. SCV is going to win DCI, and I mean TONIGHT! Come on SCV!
  7. I don't know, the teepees just kinda get in the way
  8. I am a little sad to see how much drum corps has to labor under the task-master of "theme" these days.
  9. I don't see Dumbarton Oaks coming to drum corps any time soon....
  10. wow, whole different level of brass playing now
  11. This seemed like a sequel of Blue Star's 2017 show. Desks, voice-overs, strained sincerity
  12. If I had not seen Mandies first, this would be more impressive
  13. Brass sounds a bit tentative and fuzzy. But that is some challenging music.
  14. Is it too soon to be tired of pre-recorded voice-overs?
  15. This is one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen.
  16. from Washington Post today- St. Louis: With quirky food creations, sprawling green parks, a City Museum unlike any other — and, of course, that Arch — the Gateway City is a fun place to play. https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/2018/lifestyle/vacation-ideas/things-to-do-in-st-louis/?utm_term=.628ab37c0896
  17. Gosh, that is a good old-fashioned drum corps arrangement.
  18. So, just watched the Music in the Park vid, and it actually made me happy!. This is the first time I have felt enthusiasm for Phantom's music and arrangements in many a year. I was really surprised and pleased by the deconstructive liberties they took with New World Symphony. Dvorak based the symphony on American folk music and spirituals, and Phantom's arrangements seem to draw from these roots more than from the actual symphony. In fact, listening to the music made me think that the show theme, "The New World," signals a new stylistic direction for PR, just like Ouroborous was for SCV. They may be ready to abandon playing classical for classical's sake, and bring us something new and challenging. Come on, PR, make me a Phan again!
