  1. This year, in Atlanta, the corps who used a lot of amps sounded mushy. Those that did not, sounded much cleaner. Did anyone else notice this? Or was it so loud that you could not hear each instrument? Ear protection is sold at this event. And yet, overuse of amps is not penalized?
  2. What's to stop a corps from adding 50 speakers? Could each speaker then be considered another member of the hornline? It could be fun! Make it wear a uniform and a shako!
  3. Hahaha lol omg! Stupid spell check! I meant something less filthy! Sorry! Been here since 8:30 am and am a little ditzy!
  4. So a couple of corps have 2 Amps or sets of speakers and a couple have a whole lot more like maybe 15. Count em. Considering all the new information about decibel levels etc., don't you think there should be a limit to how many speakers accord can use? Amps can hide a lot of issues. Playing with fewer amps like say 2, is a sign of a superior group of musicians, superior instruction, etc.
  5. The percussion section is also amazing! The talent pool has been strong this year I feel the force!
  6. Another thing I love about crown is the guard is amazing. There are throwing together with high and perfect catches. Nothing is hidden nothing is phony about this guard! And nothing is easy about their routine!!
  7. One of the things I love about crown is they only use two speakers or amplifiers. Not 15 like some other Coors do. So what you hear is the kids themselves. You hear their music. And isn't that what drum Corps is all about?
  8. Shapiro's is just a short walk from the stadium and it's fabulous. Get the corn beef sandwich! It'll feed two people Which leaves room for dessert, and the desserts are amazing!
  9. Would love to see corps compete with a max decibel level on amplifiers I too cansound great on a mike with a beyonce filter. If drum and bugle corps is 60% GE, that leaves 40% for drums, guard and bugle. So brass is 13%, drums is13%, and guard is13%. Why bother playing at all?
  10. Coats looked and sounded dirty and still won? Bd has a hole in their show Wth?
  11. Overheard: Horn line that isn't masked Nothing to hide here. Can you hear that? YES. EVERY NOTE. HOLY COW CROWN ROCKS! Nothing synthetic... Never stop moving... Outclassing everyone else. Guard makes BC guard look lazy Can you hear the difference in the hornline? Sick trombone! Wow purple!
  12. Heard a lot about BD show... Comments overheard: Not a fan of tarps except in wgi Ya got 100 yards of field restricted to a rectangular ocean? The way they twist their armies so cool. Now I get the tarp-AWESOME! Waving drill work is beautiful A little sloppy in the lines guys. Ariel? The little mermaid? I guess I'm not smart enough to understand BD 's show...is this Shakespeare? Really fun to watch The beiber transition? Makes no sense Ah, back to drum corps. Flags are off right now. Are they star fish? Great horn line just standing there-easy to play when motionless... Where DID THE DRUMS GO Hymn of axiom ending? Typical bd way to bring in the ending... Run...stop....play...run...stop....play... They focused on the rifle drop- fire the cameraman!
  13. Overheard comments: Big show for Cadets tonite. They won this last year. Beautiful violin solo reminds me of something out of Frankenstein-calling the statues to awaken. Majestic opener! Not sure why the stage is needed .. Why are the flags on stage? Are they the feature? Horns on the stage now...they are the feature. Great drill work! Will the birthday cake move? 50 yards of stage not in use! What'd you do all summer? Fantastic trumpet soloist says ,"I stood on a stage..." Camera missing best part of the drill! Love the Adonis guy going crazy.
  14. Having feed issues in Pa. As well! But loving Blue Stars!
  15. I just listen to the cadets from last year. I realized that they were seriously ripped off. The brass was clean the drums were Crisp - it was wonderful wonderful music.
  16. There ARE tumbleweeds. Look for them at the beginning! I like when a show gives you hints and then allows the audience to make the connections. I don't like when something is shoved in my face and I'm clobbered over the head with it, and I don't like when something is so esoteric but I can't figure it out This show has a story and it's relatable and understandable and beautiful
