Santa Clara has come a long way since 2010. What was that snoozer of a show they put on? Ah, yes: Bartok. I loved them in ‘81 and ‘89 most of all though.

Hmmm.... Beast isn’t doing anything for me. It’s good and clean but I think I was spoiled by Relentless.

Santa Clara made a winning plan and stuck with it.

Can anyone there tell the rest of us how good SCV is?

It was extremely good but as an older corps vet I always associate The Rite of Spring with Phantom Regiment.

Metamorph was way better. That was the best Blue Devils show since 1980.

I don’t think there’s much question SCV and BD will be first and second at Finals, only the order of finish.

You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman might be my favorite moment in DCI this year. Only the Blue Devils could do this; my corps couldn’t because we’re all men so that song would be too weird for us to play.

Having your own line of mouthpieces doesn’t hurt either. I might order one just to see.

It’s been this way since ‘80. We (Cavaliers) toured with BD on second tour on the way to Birmingham for Finals and I got to hear that sizzle every night for two weeks. It’s even better now.

The Blue Devils still have the best high brass in the business by about a light year.

Okay, Blue Devils! You don’t need to turn up those thumpin’ electronics when you have one of the most amazing brass lines on Planet Earth.

It’s supposed to be the other way around.

I’ve been trying unsuccessfully all year to describe why I am not a fan of the Bluecoats’ 2018 production and someone absolutely nailed it: It’s a BOA show in DCI.

I’m not a fan of what the Bluecoats or Carolina Crown are doing this year. They are good — don’t get me wrong because usually I like both corps immensely — and they’ll both finish in the top six in Indianapolis; I’m just not into it this time around, unfortunately, even after seeing them live. I’ll be back for the Blue Devils.
