  1. The Blue Knights performed all of the music in Medford. The last few moments were a standstill so we may not see the full show at the next show, but the music is very haunting, and the crowd seemed to love it!
  2. That's quite expensive! Then again we have a ton of these at the corps hall... but still...
  3. This is an exhibition. The Portland show will be judged. Also, I hear that BK will be performing the encore tonight!
  4. Oh man... These drums are beautiful. A nod to the 90s, perhaps?
  5. Great take! I'd say this is a good interpretation of the show. Interestingly, your explanation of Rush is similar to the first movement of BK's 2015 indoor percussion show.
  6. 31 years ago at the Moonlight Classic (which was last night), the Velvet Knights equipment truck died on the way to the show. The Blue Knights generously let VK borrow all of their equipment!
  7. Probably as long as it takes JC to write the finale and for them to learn it. Eh... this came off snarkier than intended. I didn't mean for that! The point is, I couldn't tell you how long it will be!
  8. The bass drums are here but the tenors and snares are stuck in a dock in California. Some one said it was because of strikes by the workers.
  9. Early drumline and front ensemble footage from Vic Firth. It also includes Mike Jackson expanding on the show concept. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7ZPgZNTgEM&feature=youtu.be
  10. In addition to the ambassador program that some of the communication team created, I'd also like to announce our "Ask A Knight" feature on our website! This gives fans the opportunity to ask BK members, volunteers, and staff anything that they'd like! We've also got some other really exciting things coming up soon... http://www.ascendperformingarts.org/ask Also, who is excited for the Clovis show? I sure am! :)
  11. I'll be at every BK show after Corps Encore!!!
  12. The Blue Knights have announced their very own ambassador program! It's similar to the DCI ambassador program and is targeted toward middle school and high school students! http://ascendperformingarts.org/support/blue-knights-ambassador/
  13. Same uniform jackets, different pants. The darker blue is just from the photo.
  14. Dinner has been delayed so the send off show is now at 8PM! Come early to check out warm ups though!
  15. That's a plan! If not, I'll definitely be there to videotape it. We're all still very new to Periscope, but I'll bring it up with our communications/media team! We'd love to have your son see it as well!
  16. Also, the corps has a Periscope now! Check out @TheBlueKnights for our broadcasts throughout the summer!!!
  17. I'll try to dig up the paper if I can. There seems to be no info I have found on this era in the corps history, but you've shed more light than I could have! Thanks!
  18. Was the lack of performances in the late 1970's due to their financial woes and dwindling member numbers? I was reading newspaper clippings about how the corps almost folded before the Roger Newcomer and his wife came in and helped the corps financially and with new uniforms.
