How High will Regiment Rise?!
lumbargleeful replied to fatbrassboy's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Regiment passes no one in their neighborhood, but merits a thread like this? LOL Regiment couldn't beat Cavies when they were practically the walking dead and even full of holes. -
Phailing Phantom-- How Phar Will They Phall?

? I'm not chaos, and to be honest we didn't particularly get along when we marched together, let alone should I be grouped in with him. Could it be that, SHOCKING I KNOW, there is a pretty large contingent of Regiment alum pretty displeased with the direction of their alma mater and they crave more? -

The group, on a whole has gotten a lot better over the course of the season. Lots of good changes, so far. All commentary aside, I bet we see a new ending this weekend. -

....I've never said a word about staff retention. edit: I don't even think the turnover has been bad, really. -

There is that nonsense again. I would like Phantom Regiment to succeed. In fact, the only indication I've ever given in ever wanting them to fail, even a little, is just so the organization has some turnover at the top and can be lifted to newer heights and standards. The activity NEEDS PHANTOM REGIMENT, and they need her to be GOOD. -

Not to urinate in your regiment colored kool-aid.... but, you realize that that's false, right? That forum failed because it used an increasingly obsolete mode of delivery. It really had nothing to do with the number of trolls, good posters, or otherwise. Regardless of what any of the proctors of that service tell you, if you don't adapt, you die. Actually, come to think of it... that forum is a lot like Regiment. -

WHAT!? That's not possible. The sunshine puffers say that's not possible. We all know and have heard so many awesome stories about what a delight that Lord F is to work with. -

That is correct. You almost win a cookie. That has nothing to do with visual proficiency or content. -

I'm gone for a little bit and see we've progressed into the, "my child is doing it so it must be special and awesome there, no matter what." phase of discussion. -
Come on, it isn't like it is Marie. Debbie doesn't have it out for Regiment. She's just finally taking a stand for some of the messes right now on field.
-
Well, at least Debbie Torchia called it like she saw it.

Pit or Baritone
lumbargleeful replied to riteofspringroll's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I can say so much, but it would seem like a slight to front ensemble members. I genuinely believe, for a wide variety of reasons, that being a marching member is a more fulfilling summer, than being in the front ensemble. That said, there is something for everyone in this activity. -
On the flip side, plenty of what judges hear is accurate, but they are woefully under qualified and don't understand what designers mean. A couple visual analysis judges who have the qualifications less than that of a DCP poster, come to mind.

Troopers 2015: "Wild Horses"
lumbargleeful replied to 2muchcoffeeman's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I think the General's point is that they have different expectations than we do. If you are promised the world, but only given New Jersey, even though you've been given an entire state, you're still underwhelmed. -
The word "aesthetic" appears in the visual analysis caption and encompasses uniform, guard uniform, and flag choices. So yes, uniforms are judged.
-
Where are you under the impression that the judges give them credit for it? Also, have any of the decisions made recently been the result of judging credit, or more, "hey, this used to work a long time ago, so we'll do it now."?

Troopers 2015: "Wild Horses"
lumbargleeful replied to 2muchcoffeeman's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
YES. So many of the things going on in that organization are awesome right now. Having the current visual staff, with almost zero teaching pedigree compared to team DVD on brass, Team Paul, and CB running guard--- it is no surprise the visual team is what is behind. -

BK, who do they beat that's currently over them?
lumbargleeful replied to Tobias's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I'd like that, but I don't see that happening with as much certainty as you seem to have. -
BK, who do they beat that's currently over them?
lumbargleeful replied to Tobias's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Where I want BK to end up and where BK will end up are two different things. I think they may be undervalued a bit this year. That said, they won't go above 6th. -
Wrangle in Warrensburg
lumbargleeful replied to Brian Porter-Szucs's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Perfect! Now, you have to write a post about judging the activity from an entirely different perspective than it is viewed from, with expensive equipment. Add some talk of Priuses and San Francisco, plus that new product called "Chipotl-away" and you're good to go. ---These jokes may be a tad obscure for this conversation---
