  1. Oh I agree Cadets have much work to do to max the potential of the show. I think just cleaning helps with clarity. They're so behind Crown in execution (or were). Haven't seen them recently though. They'll probably be third tonight about 1.5 behind Crown. Not sure about Cavies. They're good but it's such a vulgar cheesy show. Not my cup of tea.
  2. Honestly they're all improving so much I couldn't even care to guess how they'll stack up tonight. At last meet of all 3, Cadets were a few points behind Crown and Cavies.
  3. Well YOU must have been in the wrong place because those 27 guards were always hitting their marks!
  4. It works but they're not maxing it out. Music/drill chaotic/uniform change... you have very definitive elements in place already illustrating the section and there is a guard member chasing and molesting a baritone player (I think male on male which is really decadent and slightly arousing but surely I digress) ) but yes we can work on it more.
  5. We usually leave out week 3 and let the corps clean up and go straight to week 4.
  6. I won't disagree with you when you're correct. I can't and I won't. The only difference is OOTW had great music! Crown will continue to win shows though. They perform really well! I think the design catches up with them in 2-3 weeks if not adjusted.
  7. Disagree. You can read the title of the show, "the faithful, the fallen, the forgiven" and watch the show weave in and out of those three parts. If one is really slow, they even change the uniforms for each part! One may not like the show, but one can't argue it was constructed extremely well even in its current messy state compared to a super clean powerhouse Crown or Bloo.
  8. My feeling is the opposite. They are scoring high based on extremely strong captions but that will carry them to mid season. Once some of the neighbors start performing well, Crown will follow the fate of those recent monster Cadet corps that had flawed design. 2013, 2014, 2015. OR they can adjust the show arc and live happily ever after. But at this point, it OOTW path I think.
  9. It's a stunning little accessory, usually in leather and sometimes swade. It goes perfect with any church ensemble and could be let out if you're a bad boy and over indulge at Denny's after Mass! You little gluttons.
  10. More importantly, how's your son doing? When will you get to see him and the Cadets next?
  11. Well I love to love Cadets so join my camp. All are welcomed!
  12. They can certainly end it with a majestic musical visual delight (which is really an extension of what they have), followed by "mass is over, go in peace". Then they can just march off two by two. A nod to the quiet but brilliant 1987 subtle ending. Now if we could keep GH from having prop signs pointing to Sunday brunch after church, we'll be ok!
  13. To each his own but despite the dirt, it's the first Cadets show in many seasons that actually feels right. Work to be done, more clarity with refinement but : 1. Chaos to opening statement/simple song.. a visual and musical moment. 2. Brass center field body work and ends with pointing over to rifle line who's opening statement to us is wow... a visual moment. 3. Tbone feature/Percussion/uniform change... a great shift in visual/musical mood... a moment and that's all in the first 2 minutes. Ofcourse, how one interprets a 2 hour piece into 11 minutes on a football field requires artistic license but it's a step up from everyone else's chop/paste/GE moment constructed shows. Besides Cadets, everyone else seems so shallow and sterile. They run from one cheap GE hit to another.
  14. You're correct. Cadets would get flack if they did it because it is deemed a revisit to the past and yes, why not do something new. The concept of a Zpull can certainly be encorporated as a logical transition moment as George Dixon brilliantly suggested in this thread but not as the focal point.
  15. Oh I love that! The percussion diagonally piercing the Zpull line significant for the persecution of Christ and the final set in a cross of forgiveness, redemption. Clean, easy to read and filled with meaning depending on how deep an individual wants to read into it. Not unlike Ghost's dagger suggestion. I just love it George!!!
  16. I like your thought process but within a minute of movement, sometimes attempting too many forms at fast speed just comes across sloppy but yes, you're on the right track for sure!
  17. There's only so much one could do with jingle bells. And then the opener that went on for half the show. The guard tossing wrapped gifts? I cried.
  18. "Love it. Can we make one higher"? Exclaimed GH at a recent design meeting.
  19. I think a Zpull can work if musically they are adding a frenzied compilation of the show musical phrasing but I'd have it wrap down into a tilted cross, either the same or complimentary to the opening set. There you'd be musically and visually revisiting the chaotic to peaceful theme of the opening set.
  20. Good team in place and the outcome so far has been positive. Still think Tom has lots of influence and pushes against George when needed.
