  1. Bluecoats ballad at the end, when the singer has the big hit with the brass coming in after, thats truely a "You Win" moment. Since we are on the subject, if there was a Heismann for drum corps that young lady should get it.

  3. By july I knew it would be difficult for Bloo, ballad wasn't working, thought they would medal tho.
  4. Bloo had some phasing issues in transition between the pit and battery after the pic duet, tempo seemed faster for the opener.
  5. Nope, they won the first show in Indy, then started losing to crown and others.
  6. DrumManTx did they up the tempo on the opener, seemed that was the case on periscope.
  7. I don't think that was a very good run myself, parts were better, others not so much.
  8. Winning isn't everything, BD has failed to be the crowd favorite for many years. Last year it was SCV, Bloo in 16, Crown in 15, Bloo again in 14....even with BD having a record score that year. BD designs shows to the scorecard, not to be inovative, entertain, or wow the crowd. What BD does better than anyone is teach those kids how to look and carry themselves on the field, amazing, every year.
  9. Yeah, they have been tough as of late. When I started marching in the early eighties, BD was THE corps. Scoring changed in 83 and the Cadets took BD to the woodshed for 2 decades, then Cavies took everyone to the woodshed in the 2000's. Things change, good luck to BD, but I think BD has to re-invent themselves, their show designs have become stale, SCV, Bloo, and Crown have freshened the DCI landscape.
  10. Thats exactly my take on this season so far, Bloo's drums the only caption leaving the door open for another corp to drop in, and thats a big if because Bloo's drums are playing a very hard book pretty clean in most spots, pit has some crowding/phasing issues......clean clean, clean!
  11. They redone the ballad 3 times, as well as many other small changes.
  12. I'm not sure crown is in the same position they have been in previous years, I don't think they have a show that can take them much higher in GE without some major rewrites, not that they won't get higher GE scores due to execution. I think Crown has some of the issues that plaqued Bloo last year with show design. They could very well win horns and score decent enough to place in some other captions, that will keep them in contention for a medal.
  13. Bloo kept changing their show last year to keep in contention, yes, they have always layered deep into the season.
  14. I don't know, but I think Bloo can beat both SCV and BD in brass, probably not crown. Their guard is very good, so is BD, SCV, and Cavaliers. Right now, caption leaders are spead out between 5 corps, that makes GE the most important caption to win.
  15. I agree, that hornline is incredible and they will get "more deadly" as the season goes on. Only thing is....they don't have that same guard/staff.
  16. SCV is very strong, I agree, and may just win it all in august. Just the talk of Bloo not being in the running from some fans chanting SCV and BD then whoever for the bronze is a bit shortsighted.
  17. I could see it...maybe not the perc part....lol, I really felt SCV had the best show last year, and with a slightly better hornline they would have beat BD in the finals.
  18. It's difficult to compare due to styles between Bloo's hornline and SCV's, both are solid at what they do, Bloo's is more refined, has better inter-voice intonation. SCV has rough edgy sound that doesn't center within the intervoices creating that organ type sound everyone strives for.
  19. Bloo's perc is a concern, but their book has alot of black in it, I don't think they are going to be a perc powerhouse this year but I think their scores will be high enough to keep them solid on the score sheet.
  20. Oh, I doubt it, SCV has a nice show, very good drum corps and could win, BD not so much. Bloo has the GE, very good hornline and guard, there is nothing sloppy about this corps performance this go-a-round. If you haven't seen a performance this week.....you should.
  21. Best show of the year comes from Canton, I'm not a fan of jazz or singers, but Bloo has it right. West coast fans are singing SCV's praises (even BD fans), they will be disapointed come mid July.
  22. All this BD vs SCV for the gold, remember, Bloo is on fire too and their show ain't too shabby :)
  23. WOW, BD in percussion, wouldn't think that could happen, SCV perc has been on fire the last few years.
