Sitting in our show seats for ensemble! Life is good!

Off to Massillon in a little bit to catch Bloo's ensemble this afternoon before the show. Has anyone remarked on how much Bloo is dominating in GE? .9 over Crown head to head, and I know it is impossible to compare different competitions with different judging panels on different nights thousands of miles apart .. but 2.0 over BD? That's insane even given the incomparabity!

I am speculating here: I think the register choice and the euph were chosen to simulate Jonsi's falsetto, that is, the solo sounds like a euph falsetto.

And I mused about that, too. Great minds, and all that.

For that you need to ask the sound engineers. But I hope you get to hear the show live. There really isn't a lot of synth. Not much gooey sub-woofer base. I saw the bootleg of the cinecast and I wondered where the synth bass was coming from. I think it was an issue of Tom Blair having a mic in a bad spot. In the rehearsal video I think what you are hearing isn't the synth but the horn line being amplified. They are facing the far corner and there is an array of 8 different types of microphones picking up the actual brass and amplifying it to the speakers. If you were to close your eyes you might swear there was a company front on the front sideline at FFF.

I actually do that for both shows.

I spoke with someone in the know. The prop was a lot wetter than anyone knew. The issue was addressed at length this morning.

I housed with George and May and a couple of guys from NC when I marched 27. One day he was in his yard just spinning a rifle when he said to me, "Do you know why our guard looks to tough? It's because if they are looking at you, they aren't looking at you, they are looking at a spot ten feet behind your head. They look through you." And as he was spinning he was doing that to me. He looked pretty bad @$$.

I just saw a bootleg of last night's theater performance. Wow, on top of it being a rough run, the theater crowd missed so many of the shows highlights. I really hope everyone gets a chance to see the show live. The difference between theater and live is much greater than I thought.
