  1. And I ask, why not? I was hesitant at first, but I've opened my mind to these changes. And you know what? I enjoy these shows the past few years just as much (if not more) as before.
  2. From that 4 min video, viewing from the 25 yard line sideline, there is no way you could determine the strength of the guard lol
  3. From the sideline, it's hard to get a good sense of what's going on. Or what the ensemble sounds like. But I'm definitely way more into it than last season. Should be a nice vehicle for the Cadets to grow on this summer
  4. 10.5 minutes on the field as of yesterday
  5. The music didn't make sense either. They were playing An American Elegy while the speaker was saying "this is the happiest day of my life" about her grandchild being born. That song was written to honor the victims and survivors of Columbine....
  6. I thought last year's percussion issues had more to do with the staging and position on the field? Poor design affected music scores. That's how a caption, while individually very talented, finishes 8th
  7. Word on the street is that, musically, the ballad is breathtaking
  8. Those look like the spinning props that were revealed earlier this year. Based on the logo for the show title, we can assume they will still be using them
  9. Agreed. That overhang makes it LOUD. Chester and Allentown are a couple days apart (so they're easily comparable) and I couldn't believe the sound difference
  10. Those are like DCI all time greatest guard moments haha
  11. When was the last great Cadets' guard moment? 2014 opener with the blue flags comes to mind. Everything since has been mostly forgettable. Although, the closer last year was a pretty big moment.
  12. Now, lets get April back in for guard caption head Also, Ara Batur has potential to be a powerful ballad. Great choice.
  13. Kanye isn't a good analogy. He makes factually inaccurate statements and then complains that he is being "attacked" when called out on it As far as Atchison, I don't think it matters whether his record is technically clean. Perception and optics are important, especially in a world where information travels quickly. It wasn't smart to hire him, simple as that
  14. If you think sexual harassment/abuse has only been present within the Cadets, stay tuned... Its presence is throughout the drum corps activity. As others have said, our community is a microcosm of our society
  15. Crown played it in 2009, the year they wore green. You might remember it better from then
  16. My love for the Cadets has nothing to do with one or a few people. This season, I will root for them just as I have in the past. My desire for high achievement and success on the field doesn't diminish the importance of establishing a safe environment within the corps and YEA. After all, this is a competition, and the Cadets will compete. We can walk and chew gum at the same time.
  17. Where is that talking fried egg gif that Corpsband used all the time? Would've been appropriate on the last several pages of this thread imo
  18. Let me rephrase. What was the most recent PAST season in which she was on the staff?
  19. When was April's last season with the Cadets?
  20. No doubt that things will be forever different in this activity. But, spring training and the season is just around the corner. The show must go on. I think the last thing the victims want is for their beloved corps to suffer because of a few individuals. You're right that this is just the beginning of what could/should be a cleansing of DCI. But for the Cadets, it will be a balancing act of moving on and establishing the measures needed to ensure this never happens again. Some wounds will never heal, but they have to move forward
  21. Hopefully some of the people that have been shunned over the years find their way back with welcome arms. It's a shame how many bridges were burned. This organization has produced so many remarkable musicians, teachers, educators, and leaders; the sky is the limit in what they can achieve Personally, I'm much more inclined to volunteer after these changes have been made
  22. Beautiful arrangement. Do you think they'll bring back Rocky Point? Or leave that out for the time being
  23. Sean's letter is what the BOD statement should have been. He gives me some hope that things will be ok after the dust settles. But you know what? karma is real, folks
