  1. I never had Baritone Pinkie but I do still have Baritone Left Index Finger Hump. My DEG 2-valve rested on my left index finger Proximal phalanx. When I play it these days it's sore for the first few minutes, then it grooves in.
  2. it looks like you're a puppeteer . . nuffsaid
  3. Looks like the party is in Hadley! In France?Nothing in New Hampshire, so it's Lowell or Burlington for me, where's the pre-game?
  4. No one expects the Rene~ . . oh never mind . .
  5. Chris, grats on the new uni and continued success. The gauntlets seem a 'lil too phantomy with the flappage, not tight to the wrist IMHO. Maybe dark gray gloves and gauntlets for contrast? . . . I know, "Shut up, Bermudez!" I can't stop thinking of the shoe hat from the movie film "Brazil".
  6. Last time I was out on the field, B-men '06, I bought a pair of $70 Nike basketball shoes. Worked out well. And why don't visual staff(s) specify rehearsal shoes or a matrix of shoes from which to choose?
  7. As an alumni who grew up in the valley as the tech revolution blossomed I always wondered why we couldn't attract more technology companies' support, financial and technical. So, that being said . . webcast?
  8. 0oo, ooo, could you work the "Six Feet Under" theme music into the percussion feature?
  9. I was disgusted when the company was allowed keyed flutes instead of fifes in the corps of drums. But we found that, on the battlefield, the new instruments improved communication within the battalion. I was beside myself when the company issued bugles and required all dmr personnel to be trained. But we found, when the battalion assembled, the power of the bugles increased our esprit de corps. Drum corps is evil. It is evil because it was developed to facilitate war and war is the politically motivated industry of death and destruction. The activity as it exists today is competitive pageantry performance. It is performed before a paying audience, the revenues of which support the activity. The sanctioning body is called Drum Corps International. The organizations resemble military units. They are commanded using military vocalizations. These are all vestiges of the past traditions, not definitions. If you feel this activity is dEad I would hope you would disinvest yourself completely and thereby lessen your frustration. For me the activity is not the rules but the young people striving for excellence, proud of their affiliation and optimistic about their futures. There are still more similarities than differences in their experience to mine. They will ride buses for many hours. They will squirt mustard into sleeping companions open mouths. They will disembark to the smell of grilled meats, fresh cut grass and diesel exhaust and sleep on gym floors. I see no reason why I would not continue to support and participate in the Santa Clara Vanguard organization. When I see the corps for the first time this summer I expect to have my heart skip a beat, my breath to be short and the instrumentation be the farthest thing from my mind. I envy every member of every corps who will hear his or her team announced as "entering the field in competition" (or whatever it is Brandt says), whether it's from the front sideline ensembe behind a plastic keyboard or from the No. 1 side end line carrying an inoperable rifle. I wish them and their staffs and supporters all the best for a safe and successful season. I passionately agree. Amusing. Encouraging. Explanatory. . . like I said. KHAHMEDY! lol
  10. so do we think it is an aesthetic or technique decision by the staffenators?
  11. ok, but, even with painted rods, even flat black, the tubing is there and confuses the eye relative to the sticks. A pants-matching velcro-ed sleeve could fit over both rods and provide a flatter "backdrop". I did really dig the look of the lower drums though I'm fairly certain it's is a technique related decision. Reminded me of metal guitarists with axe slung low
  12. Not sure if I posted about this regarding the Lawrence MA show. I really noticed this with Academy. Their drums were so low the harness was very visible between their uni top and the drum heads. I was watching sticking and it was somewhat distracting (my eyes are old and knackered ). Why not a uni-matching Velcro-ed piece to cover the harness rods?
  13. Luv youse guys Mike! Being part of Kevins was a huge highlight, there were a couple of gigs, a parade and a standstill at the post that I remember, where I was the contra section.Just been laying low lately . . maybe someday.
  14. *Braintree, MA local article, halfway down This was an incredible experience for me, still new to New England, my first year with the Muchachos, '99 or '00. We were going to a show to do an exhibition, that's all I knew. We showed up, dressed, went off to warm up, came back, entered the field and there was 1 judge and a hot dog vendor. We did our show, maybe a couple more folks filtered in. When we were changing I see this group, a snare, a sop and a cymbal. I ask, who/what is that? I was told that's the Braintree Braves. I hurried up and ran into the stadium, got in front and went nuts for them! They were actually my inspiration for the legend that was the '00 QCR.
