  3. :tongue:/> niceit's cute when the slaves have secret nick-names for the overseers, make fun of them in private and try to imitate their behavior i'm sure the show will be amazing
  4. got to play The Canyon as part of the '02 SCVAlumni Corps And this year Xmen's show looked like it woulda been fun.
  5. I saw the Lawrence, MA show live and BL&L. I was watching the keyboard player's left hands banging octaves below middle C and realizing it was covering up, not embellishing the tubas. If I was running at 190 BPM with 28 lbs of horn only to have my big notes covered up by a guy sitting and pretending to 'emote' I'd be slightly annoyed. Notable exceptions were BAC and Xmen. Notable *sigh* worthy, Bluestars.
  6. This was the best yet. My one question: why not use the side speakers maybe just a little? Prolly cuz not all theaters have the surrounds, but . . yeah. Having an Outback in close walking distance (Stella on draft) is nice, too.
  7. I really dug Crossmen's show, not totally sure why, just looked like it would be fun as hell to play and march. that is all
  8. MARWAN!! . . and Liz and Rob I miss wearing coat #97 just about everyday. As the Renegades say, "the view is better from the field." The naysayers may have piled in but I bet the hotdog chompers, true fans and member-supporters would enjoy the enthusiasm and showmanship that the banana men ALWAYS deliver. oh yeah, and . . HYPE!
  9. Sons of Confederate Veterans?my NH license plate is "SCV-1" and someone asked me that once
  10. "or they were throwing Rudy Mück mouthpieces"
  11. In '90 I hadn't been around much. I worked near the hall and rolled by to check in as the buses were pulling out to camp or tour, I forget.GR was walking and I pulled up and asked, "What's the book this year." "Carmen." "Aww, I hate Carmen!" He shot me a look to kill, I wished him luck and drove off. Some time after the season I stopped in to annoy him as I saw his car was there. I was looking for forgiveness. I said, "So, how did it go doing Carmen." He replied,"Carmen did us." I hate Les Miserables, sacharine, tired. I watched the SCV threads this year, I so get it, from all the disparate voices, people who love what the corps represents, personally, to them. Very passionate voices. In the age of the "total show" program, a "best of" will never happen. The staff will take on the mantle once again of doing their best to reinvent the corps. There will be red, green and ('87 exception) aussies. . . and they will "march like gods"(Charlie Anderson)
  12. i vaguely remember finals night attendance in '78 being reported at like 32,000 . . ?
  13. i used to really like pigs in a blanket at Howard Johnson's as a kid didgeridoos and Ian Anderson FTW love the Youtube clips, ty
  14. A couple of years ago the SCV Alumni and staff and others went to J. Brians (map link) after the show. It's a smaller family run bar & grill. It may be 1st come 1st serve if lots of people show up. But it worked out well. See youse there. edit: 0oo, 200th post
  15. This is an invitation to anyone who would be interested in being a part of a "Tribute to the Princemen" being planned for the GAS celebration this coming April 28, 29, 30, & May 1, 2011. The performance will be Saturday afternoon. We are planning to have a group of horns perform some music performed by the Princemen through the years. If you are interested visit the Yahoo group and click "Join This Group". Thank you, John Bermudez
  16. I would submit, an assessment should be made: are they evil? If yes, they are a drum corps.Thank you, drive safely, be sure to tip your waitresses.
  17. I just looked on the home page, the DVD is no longer available. Here's a , I believe it's Friday evening before PP. At 8:22, Scott Pierson, conductor/arranger included "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" as a special remembrance of GR.
