I was impressed with Dan's take on things. It was open and honest, when the response could have just as easily been to turn inward and be unresponsive. This is a corps that sees value in all kinds of lessons, obviously--perhaps there is value in what has happened and they recognize it. The situation doesn't give them a lot of time to work with, but it's not impossible for them to right the ship and astound us. I believe in them--the staff and especially the members. There's no reason not to believe in the members--they are giving us all they have. The corps is a great group this year (of course, I think that every year, but still, they're amazing), and if they can pull this out, it will be, IMO, as amazing an achievement as last year's production. Perhaps for different reasons, but nevertheless, a monument to what they can accomplish as a corps. Maybe something we will all point to for a long time and say, yeah, this is what a champ can do when the chips are down. No matter where they end up. I'm very proud of them either way.

Vet status is nice to have, but I thought we were doing this DCP stuff by member number. Been thinking about that...DCP around for 7+ years. Wow.

Funny that...that's exactly how I see that show. A legendary achievement. There are shows that won that don't come anywhere near it in my mind. So I guess it shows how little, potentially, finals placement has to do with how fond of a show fans can be.

That 88 show is one of my favorite shows from any corps, ever. When I heard that section of this year's show, I was like , totally. Thank you Devils.

Was not there, but I heard that it was echo-y. Also, has DCI made a decision on opening or closing the roof when finals are there? Are there rules on rain chance, or is it the decision of the directors to leave it closed or open it? Because with it closed, won't it be very noisy?

Ditto that. I'm really disappointed that they decided to do this. I'll go to DCI's...but mostly because I really want to see Regiment and would try to go to see them in finals no matter where it is (within reason).

I don't put great stock in any of the regionals...particularly the SW regional (because your placement in San Antonio and a buck and change will get you a ride on the county bus)...but I have to admit, I'm pretty excited for our Trooper brothers and sisters. Their alumni must be very, very proud of those kids...and deservedly so. I remember that year with no Troop...I don't ever want to imagine a world of drum corps with no Troopers in it. Best put 'em in Finals where we can keep an eye on 'em.

Wow. What a cess-pool of a thread. Off topic, awkward, and worse. Even the "One Fan's Plea" thread had some decent conversation, advice, and dissent in it. This. Yuck.

Umm...it would be a mistake to generalize what the Regiment family thinks from some posters on DCP. Just like I don't claim to speak for anyone but myself, people who have taken staff and design for this program to task...those are really just individual opinions. And for what they're worth....jeez, people...go see the show and decide for yourselves. It's more fun that way.

How many times do you have to finish 2nd to be considered a top corps? How many times in the top 5? Or, how are you defining "top"? Just winning?
