Not sure about the length of Roxanne....vs. length of ballad. That's the first I've hear anyone mention that. The GE disparity from last night may just be based on one judge's preference. They've been very close at other shows. I thinks it's also about execution. Crown has a lot of exposed visual moments and they have to be clean to get credit.

Probably a lot of those SCV kids may have been in their second place world guard this year...but could not say for sure. Tons of talent and an experienced staff. Just sayin'

I was gonna say...unless one of those three guards has a major meltdown I don't see Cadets passing them. AND Santa Clara has a guard too don't they:) And Caves too...interesting. Just saying lots to be happy with in these improvements but don't get fixated on placement and scores. Not worth it.

So who's falling if Cadets are top three? Or is this wishful thinking:)

Only seen a YouTube video...but what a powerful ending. The rifles act as a through line. They can still tweak it and make it even better. But it connects you emotionally to the show and makes an important statement that I think will resonate especially with the younger audiences. Well done Crown.

Really improved guard yes. They have come a long way this year no question. But does that translate into them beating any of the guards above them? That is doubtful. Just like the Crown drum line by comparison. Vastly improved...but can they beat SCV, Cadets, Coats or BD...probably not. Not a knock on them...just excellent competition above them.

I personally didn't say I 'liked' the show...just that they pretty much blew it up and started from scratch after the opener. I give Mark Sylvester a ton of credit. He cleaned out all the mess and made the show much more readable. As for scoring someone said they could push for top three? I think that may be a stretch. Probably will close on SCV but a much more solid fifth place show than before when there was a chance the Caves could pass them.

No need to take ourselves so seriously. Heck be happy guys. Percussion has pretty much taken over the music caption in DCI. Corps can write all kinds of extended percussion breaks with no brass or just brass accompaniment and everyone loves it. Look at SCV the past two years and Coats this year. This is a great time for percussion writing too. Some excellent material out there played to the max. Lots of fun to listen to.

Pardon me...I have not read everything lately in here. But did I just see a video of a show in Annapolis with a drum corps that sounded like The Cadets? I am confused though because it looks like they pretty much blew up the drill and guard book from the ballad through most of the ending and rewrote it. So just asking...is this still The Cadets;)

Well stale bread looks fine until you open the wrapper and take a wiff. I have loved BDs shows of late. This one doesn't pass the smell test for me.

Those darn major and minor chords...they can just ruin a show. I want more diminished chords! Diminished chords matter!!
