  1. For the modern drum corps (past 15 years) community really doesn't have much meaning since very few members come from the community. If the corps was truely a community based organization, then they would be doing things in the off-season as well, e.g. Christmas parades, Thanksgiving parades, etc. And even during the season they would still make time to do things for the community.
  2. Sounds like they might have a Naruto or Samari Jack marathon between shows.
  3. Like it's been said since day 1. You don't get into drum corps to get rich.
  4. http://www.websiteoutlook.com/www.drumcorpsplanet.com From this site DCP is only worth $11,315.00. Hope John didn't pay much more than that for this site.
  5. No kidding. Given the pieces that has Looney Tunes written all over it. 2006 BD was the same way. If you read the liner notes, there had to be at least 8-10 pieces they either performed or were influence by.
  6. Well it is different than the "simple" choreography they have been doing in the past. Anyways, all original. Should be interesting (at least). IMO, in terms of entertaining, they are batting .500 in that area. Just as long as it doesn't sound like Spin Cycle.
  7. Wow, this went way off-topic. But you're both right. Integral deals with being an integer as well as integration. Saying that, what does calculus have to do with iguanas and Elvis and lounge lizards?
  8. In the kitchen of Scott Stewart Thinking to himself... Okay, we've done Malaguena countless time, but now it's time for a change. Is there anything out there that says Malaguana without it being Malaguana. a few days later. AHA! Found it!!! Malaga. The fans will love this!! Has all the flair and power of Malaguana without us repeating the same show. Ahhh, I am sssoooo smart. ;)
  9. "here's an idea that's never been done." "What? tell us." "Kites" "Huh? Kites?" "Yeah, kites. This of it this way, we get to gve the illusion of breaking the two-dimension barrier that drum corps is based on and it will also appeal to the small kids." "Brilliant!!"
  10. You failed to mention that they really wanted to stay away from the recognizable parts.
  11. Eh, now that you mention it, it does have that Elvis/M. Jackson look to it. All those belts and bucket do it. Stylewise says Elvis. So what does an iguana have to do with Elvis and Jackson? And Ryan, I do agree. I've never been a fan of the concept show since they only thing it does is tie together disassociative music (like pre-90s shows) and makes it sound like high art.
  12. THat looks more like Elvis than a lounge lizard. If they were going to do an Elvis show they should state that.
  13. Methinks someone has been dipping into BD and BC's shows. ;)
  14. I don't know. If BD's history of show designs are any indicators. They would need a radically change their style, especially music arrangement, for us to think their show would be any different.
  15. And to think that back in '79 that they used a smaller hornline to take down walls. To use 96 to break glass is still not that good.
  16. The phrase here is "get off the reservation". They have full access to (if not more) to free education, especially college. You know darn well the US isn't going to apologize for what happened. I wish the US would, but you and I both know that isn't going to happen anytime soon. But then the whining has gone on to long and they need to grow up and get with the system. Take advantage of what has been given to them.
  17. oI'm always optimistic about the season, that is until I see the see the show THEN I make a judgement. I like to used the quote from Field of Dream (just replace "baseball" with" drum corps". People here are already fawning over a season that hasn't begun yet and going off either the show title and listing of the pieces that will be performed. Example: I thought Cavies would do a good job with Billy Joel based off of their past years of shows. In the end, I wasn't that thrilled by it. It was just one of the many overarranged shows.
  18. I loved the dots also. It definately gave an different appearance to the corps. Unlike the bland design they have now. Now that was a bad change.
  19. So do I, but why change the formula that has been working for over a decade and gave us something that's actually musically listenable?
  20. *yawning* If the past is any indiction of what they will do with this music, it will be so overarranged nobody will know what they are playing. Also a lot of part and bark in the highly technical parts. In otherwords, same-ol, same-ol.
  21. That's what I was thinking also (about the FMA/Bluecoat connection). I guess we'd have to hear from a member the actual inspiration for it (and if the designer likes anime...my guess - yes). I like the dark blue uniform they've had for the longest time. The change to the FMA uniform wasn't bad, but still...they could have done better.
  22. I don't know if the uniform was inspired by FMA or just coincidence. Only those in Bluecoats can tell us, IF the person who designed this uniform told them. Personally, with bluecoats being slang for police I would have designed something more in the police vein, not something from a fictional military anime show.
