  1. Well, I'm a newbie parent, but it seems that once Flo-Marching broadcasts the full show in 72 hours all over the place, and with people having vid capture software that maybe the point is moot?
  2. I've been listening to 15:55 on since January. Sounds a little different with the whole corps playing. :-)
  3. Actually for tonight...I'll get to see a recording of the run from their community show at EIU later tonight. :-)
  4. Right here...I'm still trying to shut my mouth...in a good way. So proud that my kid is donning one of those!
  5. Let's see if this works. He opens this ballad and closes it out. Seventeen years old standing in the Georgia Dome in front of bunch of people. The staff mentally changed their "status" for him from "horn player" to "performer" after this run. :-)
  6. Eyeconic was very cool in 2015. My son was the Euphonium soloist in "Gabriel's Oboe" in the 2016 show ( Rythmos) on the front and back of the second movement. :-)
  7. Yep...but as the parent of a newbie MM, you can bet it won't come from me! :-)
  8. Don't know if they'll post anything, but would be hard to contain...they are having a dress run on 6/17. And then another run with another corps on FloMarching on 6/20...before the opening show on 6/22.
  9. I watched last night's run. They have 11 minutes on with about half of the closer to go. They look great. But of course...I'm just a "PopcornEater"...hence the nickname. :-)
  10. That actually makes me feel better...I was beginning to wonder if they had misplaced my order.
  11. Finals tickets? And did you order in the Cavs section? I'm still waiting on mine!
  12. Yes...yes I do. Always good to be reminded of that perspective.
  13. Great insight! Could an "overhonked" horn impact the GE score? I'm taking it from these comments the answer is probably no.
  14. It was in the very last part of the show. And I didn't know that about the timing gun. I learned something new today! I thought the timing gun was just a "warning" to the corps about how much time they had left on the field. But yes, it was well after the timing gun and in the final phrases of the show.
  15. I think we must be talking about the same thing. It was noticeable and I was a 17-year old "popcorn eater" back then. Spirit was my favorite corps because my older brother had marched 79 ( and then again in 81 ), but I remember thinking "Whoever that is sticking out is going to cost them 3rd place..."
  16. I will be in Lucas Oil Stadium, watching my son march his first DCI show ( he has two years of DCA with Atlanta CV under his belt) . I'm looking most forward to Cavaliers, because that's the uniform he'll have on! Traveling alone, as my elderly mother in law is flying in the day before to spend time with my wife. ( they will see it in the theater) Best wishes to all the corps, staff, volunteers, and fans this season!
  17. I've seen the first 10:30. They marched it last night in hats, shoes, and all wearing white tee shirts. And included all props. I really believe this is going to "mature" into a better production than "Propaganda". But I'm as biased as the day is long because one of those baritones out there is my kid. :-)
  18. ...and I think they are going to have a great season. First pass of the show is almost on the field. Which I'm sure is the case with all the corps. But got chicken skin listening to the ballad tonight.
  19. Only one prop...and no ballad in that performance.
  20. Again...completely anecdotal...as my son was coming through auditions, call backs, contract, etc. there was a definite focus on how "big" of a sound he could produce out his horn and still maintain a musical expression. I think you will get what you're looking for in this show. :-)
  21. So...my moniker on this site is "PopCornEater" for a reason. I sit in the stands, enjoy the corps eating my popcorn, and don't pretend for one second that I can tell the difference in the 1/10th of a point between the Blue Devils drumline and SCV's drumline. Because I honestly don't believe many of those people actually exist ( that have that discernment capability). I've said all that to put the following opinion into appropriate context regarding Cavaliers 2017. There could be some parental bias involved here as well...but I already like this show better than Propaganda, and I REALLY liked Propaganda. Well designed and what I believe will be multiple crowd-pleasing ( applause ) moments throughout what I've seen and right now there's only about 7 minutes on the field. Haven't seen anything of the ballad yet, nor the closer. And having given you my "popcorn eater" qualifications, I'll also weigh in that the brass line sounds more mature than last year. Don't know if that's the membership or the material they are playing or perhaps both. But to my ears, a marked uptick in brass performance. Hope that helps. Can't wait for Indy!
