  1. Anyone have a link to a video of last night? I FLO'd it but would love to see it again...
  2. I was referring to what I can only imagine is his preferred viewing spot (and FB Live recording area) at JBCrum. I know I won't be sleeping, hopefully nobody else will be. Hope he combs his hair before the next Live broadcast. I thought ALF was on.
  3. Showers? I only have 2 showers but I have a big pool. Sleeping? They could all fit in the basement and first floor. The things I do for DCI tickets..."primo" ones, too. Do I get to sit in the Hop Chair?
  4. So I thought they were cutting out one "let us pray" and the "Jesus Christ" part of narration...or is that on the slate for San Antonio? Kudos for the MMs for performing so well in that heat...not just Cadets but all corps.
  5. To each his own. I hope you get some enjoyment out of somebody's show this year. I don't attend DCI shows to get an education, I go to enjoy the noise and movement, and hope in a few years my daughter and son can take part in this amazing activity. Please don't judge them when they do.
  6. A marching show is historically inaccurate? Paralysis by analysis...
  7. I now understand why this thread is 843 pages long. Wait, no I don't...
  8. Got this from the Ancient History Encycolpedia...take it for what it's worth. The ankh's association with the afterlife made it an especially potent symbol for the Coptic Christians of Egypt in the 4th century CE who took it as their own. This use of the ankh as a symbol of Christ's promise of everlasting life through belief in his sacrifice and resurrection is most probably the origin of the Christian use of the cross as a symbol of faith today. The early Christians of Rome and elsewhere used the fertility symbol of the fish as a sign of their faith. They would not have considered using the image of the cross, a well-known form of execution, any more than someone today would choose to wear an amulet of an electric chair. The ankh, already established as a symbol of eternal life, leant itself easily to assimilation into the early Christian faith and continued as that religion's symbol.
  9. I thought it was a 13 minute presentation of "Mass", the Bernstein show...not "a Mass".
  10. That's my man David...his brother Antonio is also marching trumpet!
  11. I wasn't aware of a problem with talent at Cadets. And yes there are WCU MMs.
  12. Just an observation...but I doubt ANYONE will be marching in Hotlanta on Dec 12...
  13. No explanation required. I understand where you're coming from, and my wife and guests complained as well. And there were about a dozen folks near me (we were parked almost right across from Gate A) that were going up and down the street complaining to anyone who would listen. One even said "they should let them perform even if DCI doesn't judge the show". At the end of the day, folks were safe to march another day, and so fans were safe to support them. Hope to see you sometime at another PA/NJ event. PS prayers to Phantom Regiment...unfathomable tragedy that will be hard to hurdle.
  14. Complaints on FB and DCP...we get it, you had a long drive and came away with nothing but wet shoes. So did we. But the storms were unpredictably shifting, on my way home I drove thru more rain and a barrage of lightning. If DCI could predict the path of the storms exactly, and know where the lightning would strike, and if there were no noise statutes or neighbors to consider, and the bands had enough time to get all their instruments/props etc out and setup, and there was time (and suitable dry areas) for warmups, then perhaps your evening might not have been ruined. But the "dumb" part was not on DCI's part. There were 900 MMs and their support staff who's safety HAD TO BE CONSIDERED. I consider the costs of my 5 tickets to now be a donation to an activity that I have loved for years and will continue to support. Sorry you don't feel the same way.
  15. And there couldn't have been more than 50 people there either night. I just don't get it. Even if I lived next door and knew nothing about Drum Corps, I'd be checking it out. Folks missed out on a ton of entertainment. Only saw 2 full runs, at the end of each night, but was thoroughly entertained for three hours each night.
  16. Attended rehearsals Wednesday and last night, and the vocals are very nicely integrated. The early simple trumpet solo is nice too. So much warm sound with some powerful movements thrown in...unlike any Cadets stuff I've heard in a while. I'm loving where this show is going. Going up tonight for the real thing....as long as the boomers stay north of Allentown! I heard Genesis had some housing issues last night and the show order is shaken up. Genesis last, right after Cadets. We'll see!
  17. Indeed. We were there from 8 til 10 and were amazed. We came up the hill on the west side and noticed that there are images on the reverse of the stained glass panels...should be interesting as this show progresses!
  18. Where would one get to see these run thrus???
  19. French horns in '15? My HS marching band kid and I still look at each other and shake our heads when we hear it. PURE. The fans at finals reacted the same way...
  20. Carmike Theatre in Lehigh Valley PA was pretty full last year...I was nicely surprised. Can't make that one this year but there's one nearby our early summer vacay spot. It will be a nice diversion.
  21. Hopewell Valley High School in NJ https://www.bing.com/maps?osid=41b6b4e4-ff2b-4b48-8992-61555364613a&cp=40.327922~-74.806073&lvl=16&imgid=6508097f-b944-4835-a79c-970bc2f71a12&v=2&sV=2&form=S00027
