  7. I would have loved to have heard it.
  8. I actually like Regiment's show better than Cavies this year. The opener is a little abrasive but I think with some tweaking I can get behind it. Ever since I heard Chanticleer do Bibel's Ave Maria I have been hoping Phantom would do it. I cannot wait to hear it in late July. It will be my favorite drum corps musical moment ever. The rest of the show is very frantic and I love it! They have a phenomenal horn line. It would be nice to see them 5th at finals behind Coats of course. :)
  9. I can't stop listening to it! I think it is a really great show and cannot wait to see it in TN. I think it is a very good follow up to last year's show. The hornline sounds great. The ballad is a treat! Drumline sounds pretty clean to me. (I am a brass guy as well) I really hope they keep climbing!
  10. I have been visiting their rehearsals for the last couple of weeks. They sound pretty good. It will be hard to say where they will place. Their show reminds me of a hybrid of Star & Cavies. The hornline sounds much more mature than the last few years. They have been on a field that is bordered by a road so I have not been able to get a peek at the visual. They do have quite a bit of body stuff added though.
  11. Mine would be '93 Championships in Jackson, MS. It started to rain when Madison came on the field and everyone was electric. You could feel the transferrence of energy from the crowd and the Scouts. Madison played the #### out of their show. That was my first championship and I was hooked.
  12. I would have to say: Star Freelancers 27th Sky Riders Memphis Blues I would love to see what these corps would be doing now. <sigh>
  13. Thanks for the review. It was great! Anthony Arnold Bluecoats Euphonium 1997 GO BLUE!!!!
  14. Do they happen to be in Spirit of JSU? The reason I ask is that I have a friend who told me that after the Indy show some of Spirit's staff told them that a couple of the visual judges were fired after scoring some of the corps too low. Interesting......
  15. Well, here are my 2 cents on what went down in Charlotte. Troopers: I am very pleased to see the Troop doing better this year. I think the show is very nice. I was on the upper level of the stadium around the 45 so I could see drill fairly well. I thought these guys were pretty clean. They were very confident and projected individual technique pretty well. My only complaint was that the horns did not project very well. It was almost as if they were out of breath most of the time. All in all I think it they keep making improvements like this year after year we can expect great things from them in the future. Glassmen: In my opinion, this years show will be compared to Star '93 in that it is way ahead of its time. The staging of the show is very elegant and dramatic throughout. The body movement is awesome. All the nuance that is peppered throughout the show makes for a nice total package. That is what I appreciate about the Glassmen. They are not afraid of trying something different. I had read in previous reviews about the awkward transition from Medea to Appalachian Spring. I think it was okay for the most part. There is a part however when they go back and forth from one to another that I thought was a little muddy. Otherwise it works well. I really hope they can clean the show up more between now and finals. IF they do I see them in 7th or 8th in Denver. Madison Scouts: This is going to be a short one. The show is okay. Really good in the last min or so. Otherwise I think it's just okay. I don't know what it is, but I don't think they are "Madison" loud this year. On a side note, I hope the soprano player who bit it in the opener is okay. He took a nasty spill. Blue Devils: I checked these guys out at their housing site before the show. I must say, these kids rehearse at a performance level. I was very impressed with the way the members conducted themselves during the rehearsal. One word comes to mind after see this show, effortless. It was a credit to each member's individual technique that no one fell during the performance. They by far had the most demanding drill of all the corps present. It was like watching a hot knife cut through butter watching these kids move. My favorite part of this year's production is the opener. It amazes me how they can get these block chords to pop so loudly. As far as the rest of the show, eh. My wife is very astute in her limited drum corps experience. She summed up the Devils with one word.."sophisticated." Carolina Crown: It's a good year in drum corps when there are so many corps having "their best year ever." Crown along with Bluecoats, Troopers (best in a long while), and Capital Regiment are no exception. This is a great show. The hornline sounds great, the drill is good, and the guard just won't quit. The only thing that could make it better is scrapping the vocals. Bohemian Rhapsody is my favorite chart of the summer. It really shows that the kids love the show. They are performing the heck out of it. They were a great finish to a great night of drum corps here in Charlotte. Well, this is my first and last post for the season as I will not be attending any more shows for the rest of the summer. I hope everyone enjoyed it! Anthony Arnold Bluecoats Euph 1997 GO BLUECOATS!!!!!!!

  21. I have a new VMI euphonium that I would like to sell. It is a 4 valve, upright, non-compensating, silver one. The model # is VMI3171S. I purchased this about a year ago in hopes of getting back in the swing of things but unfortunately have not been able to. I purchased it from WoodWind-Brasswind and paid $1400 for it. I would be interested in getting about $1000-$1100 for it. I also have a Yamaha Silent Brass System that goes with it. That I would sell for around $150. Please email me @ parnold2@alltel.net if you are interested. Thanks! Paul
