  1. Well. I'm pretty neutral about the Cadets. I do admit they have one of the most enjoyable shows this year. They were fantastic when I was in high-school and college. Gold standard to me. I can appreciate most corps but definitely have my favorites. I'm biased towards the Bluecoats. They always have accessible shows, I know a few 00s Alum, and they are the home team to me. Although by your description I identify the most with Madison. It's nice to read posts from someone so enthusiastic! Welcome!
  2. Here we go! First read on the Colts. I can see what all the hubbub is about. Don't know how late I will stay up. Tuesday was way past my 10 PM EST bedtime.
  3. The Cadets 😄 BTW. Malaguena is the best thing that ever happened in DCI history.
  4. I completely agree and said this earlier. Crown has the best hornline. The best. Most Crown fans and DCI fans alike look forward to hearing Crownbrass as one of the highlights of the entire season. Crown: *opens with a percussion feature then has hornline play with ribbon dancers before the closer* They need to play more. I don't watch and listen to Crown for percussion features and ribbon dancers. On the other hand BD has one of the best hornlines they have had I'm years (they were 4th in brass in 2019 for example) and the hornline is featured really well. Instead of trying to keep up with the Jones's maybe Crown should do what they do best- feature their hornline and update the show around that. When the app picks the audience's favorite song it should be something like flight of the bumblebee.
  5. Boston had a great run! The show had so much energy last night and the drum line was a true treat to watch.
  6. I knew BD would come out on top but was hoping for less of a spread. I also knew Crown, Boston,Bluecoats would be tight...which looks like an awesome competition shaping up. I honestly thought Crown had a rough run. They had to start earlier and the show energy just wasn't there. I do think Crowns hornline is better than BD but I also don't think Crowns hornline is featured anywhere near enough during their show. It's Carolina Crown. Everyone knows we came for the brass. Have them play instead of using ribbon dancers please. Anyway if I am right about Crown just having a bad night they should distance themselves from Bluecoats and Boston soon. Also congratulations to Boston for currently running at the highest seed in the DCI Era! That SCV show is a monster but it would be so exciting to see them finish in the Top 4.
  7. Lol it was hard for me too. I got at least 4 confused faces when I quantified it. The top 5 are looking and sounding fantastic. I also don't love any of the show designs but also don't hate any.
  8. According to my eyes/ears The top 5 are all great. It's hard to rank them. Boston is definitely gaining momentum. Crownbrass wins but the rest of the show is...it is... 1. BD 2. Boston 3. Bluecoats 4. Crown 5. SCV 6. BS 7. Cavies- this show has legs but they have some catching up to do. They will finish 6-8 at finals 8. BK
  9. I wrote that long winded post at 5AM. My main points were 1. By the score sheets- Bluecoats 2019 was far better than 2016. The difference was BDs score- which is surprising because 2019 wasn't special. The scores were super tight in 2016 for 1-3...and where would DCI today be if say Crown won instead and downside up was just another 3rd place show? 2. If any show had "that show" feeling since 2008 it was Inferno. Yes BD won anyway. Your point was proven. No show was "the show" so BD won by default. I guess I felt that way from 09-18. But 2019 was an anomaly both statistically and by "feel"
  10. I mostly agree with you but a deeper look adds a few factors. 97.65- the second lowest score to win this Millennium and it happened 3 times and these were arguably the 3 most interesting years 2000-2019 2000- the Cadets and Cavaliers tie for gold. 2015- Blue Devils. 4 way run for 1st and BD narrowly comes out on top 2016- Bluecoats. Top 3 within a fraction of a point of eachother. The winner could have easily been Crown or BD then we wouldn't talk about this show and how it changed DCI so much. Must have been a down year for BD because BD gets their lowest score since 2006...which btw 2006- the lowest scoring champion score since Star of Indiana in 1991. (97.2) I would also like to draw 2019 to your attention. This is the highest scoring Bluecoats show of all time and I believe the highest scoring 2nd place show since 2004 BD and maybe the 2nd highest 2nd place score overall. BD wins overall but scores 4th in brass and only takes home the visual performance caption. Hardly "the show"
  11. This. Our only known factor is that BD is consistently ahead of SCV. Bluecoats have been dominant in Midwest but they don't have medal competition. The bluecoats had over 2 points on Boston- but at the tour premiere. Crown over Bluecoats a few days later putting Crown in first place among the 3. At Crownbeat Crown 1 point over Boston. Now Boston is knocking at Crowns door. So the question here- Is Boston getting hot or is Crown not improving at the rate of the other corps? The other question is where do the west coast corps fall into this? By raw scores alone you are looking at basically 1 point between 1st and 4th place. Seeing that this is between 3 shows any of these corps with the exception of Boston could be in first place. I don't think Boston overtakes Crown tomorrow but the change is coming.
  12. Thanks! I thought I saw that. Crown/Bloo/Boston all tight together. Scenario 1 BD right there with them and the 4 corps have several position changes even leading up to finals week. SCV on a 5th place island like in 2015. Scenario 2 BD is clearly ahead of the east coast corps and SCV with them in the mix and 2-5 are battling.
  13. Have Crown and Bluecoats gone head to head yet? I thought they did but I can't find the scores to show it
  14. I would hope they would do the same for any corps in that situation.
  15. They definitely couldn't figure out volume for SCV and I got a little seasick on multicam a few times.
  16. Hmm. BD winning percussion. SCV is such a perennial powerhouse I am a little surprised. BD is often my favorite drum line on the other hand. I do think BD is stronger than SCV in brass but I did not think the gap was that big. Also yes BK was head to head with Mandarins in Brass. I thought BK had the edge in that caption and maybe they will in Indy.
