  1. Respectfully disagree. The brass and percussion book of Crown is more difficult and they are performing it better. They have some of the most daunting ensemble challenges due to field spread. Visually, BAC is performing better and the guard is awesome. The challenge for both BAC and Crown is what the judges value... complex visual and movement design or parking and playing and moving while not playing. Let’s see what happens tonight between these two but the bigger challenge of what the judges value, sadly, does not appear to be moving in the BAC/Crown direction. IMHO.
  2. It will be interesting to see how this turns out this evening. Crown Brass and Percussion are performing at a higher level than everyone they have seen to date. Visual has cleaned up a lot with more to go. The demand of this visual book is higher than anyone they have seen to date and the play and move better than anyone. We will have to as the show evolves if GE grows. Judges will have to decide if moving and playing has any value anymore. If not, we will see everyone on big stages props and no one moving and playing in the future if there is no longer a reward for it. I know this has been creeping into the activity over the past few years but this year seems to be a tipping point. I do think BAC is in a similar boat as they also have more moving and playing than most.
  3. Me too... also looking forward to seeing how things stack up with Boston tonight. This will provide the first clues since they have been head to head with for the past 10 days. The real measure is as you rightly point out... Memphis!
  4. They are continuing to make additions and enhancements to the show...
  5. They also try to post the day schedule on their facebook account the each morning. But @karuna's suggestion would be best.
  6. I see... I was only going by the photo on the forum. I know the Pit removes them during the ballad. Must have been do to the heat.
  7. That is the full uniform. You can see the muscle shirt with black pipping beneath the surface...
  8. Parade and Laundry today... two days of rehearsal in Ohio followed by three days at home in Fort Mill before CrownBEAT on Friday night where they meet up again with Boston followed by Orlando on Saturday (on Flo). This is another nice stretch to clean and get better. Make the most of it Crown!
  9. Winner! The answer is 0 corps breaking 80 last night!
  10. Crown's performance last night was really something. Excellent through out... lots of emotion, energy and... dare I say it... GE. They have improved a great deal in the past week. Watching ensemble rehearsal as well as some of the clinics you can see how crazy the drill is, the challenging listening environments across the whole show, and how they are making beginning to make a very difficult productions seem effortless. GE has already grown in leaps and bounds. On top of that... Crown as a class act with all the Music for All camp students. They worked with United Sound students as they performed with the honor line. The rehearsed for a special encore at last nights contest the Crown opening... complete with a new drill to include everyone into the ensemble... percussion students were mingling with the Crown percussion members asking questions and taking pictures and signing autographs... drum majors were sharing the podiums with camp DMs so they could see what it is like... and Crown staff members did several sessions from programming, to percussion, to running ensemble including the band directors going "inside the circle" with Crown Brass. They embraced everyone they can into contact with while also working their a$#35 off to adjust and clean the show. Extremely classy and not only represented the organization well... but they are tremendous ambassadors for the activity. And yes... this is one very special... very hungry drum corps with a great vehicle to showcase their talents this year. It is going to be some ride as this program develops over the next 6 weeks.
  11. Admittedly yes... clearly this was a response to something else... my bad.
  12. My apologies for missing the intent of your original post. And I agree... Fans win this year!
  13. I would rank it better than slim. We will see soon enough on the July 13th! BTW - they were AWESOME in person the last few days. And they way they interacted with the students at the MFA symposium as incredible. Very classy.
  14. 13TH? I guess we still have not learned that you cannot really compare corps based on shows in different locations. Based on this logic Bluecoats and Boston are better than SCV right now. In a week Boston will meet up with Crown again. Let's see if your comparison holds. You don't get to take a bow until you actually beat a corps. Last I checked Crown has beaten BAC every meeting this year. I very much doubt BAC and SCV are even right now. And by the way... at the show in Muncie... Crown SPARKLED. And the also SPARKLED in a run through the nigh before after a 14 hours day in the sum where they had been playing a lot. I for one would not underestimate this team and this show.
  15. It has been an incredible few days of long rehearsal days and clinics for Crown this week. Last night's run through in Muncie was exciting and energetic with many of the "moments" coming through with emotion and clarity. Very excited to see the performance they unleash tonight in front of one of the best crowds of the season. Seeing this live left me saying one word... WOW! It's a SHOW DAY! LET'S GO Crown!
  16. Another solid performance and score for Crown. Now they have four days parked in Muncie to clean and tweak before the show Friday night. Can't wait to see how they evolve this week. No real competition for them until BAC returns for Crownbeat on 7/5 and only a Friday/Sat show this weekend with another 6 days of rehearsal before Crownbeat. They have another four day break to rehearse before the date we all now have circled on the calendar, July 13th in Memphis where Crown go head to head with SCV for the first time. There is a lot of time scheduled over the next three weeks to develop this show. Excited to see the growth!
  17. Crossmen 6th in drums behind all but Music City after finishing last in drums the night before. If something is not done to fix this section it could be the drag on the corps that could keep them out of finals.
  18. It's a SHOW DAY! Great job last night! Once more... with feeling. LET'S GO CROWN!!!
  19. Yes... the just pushed her around. Then at the top of the steps took her scepter and she ran down the back stairs (they did not throw her off)
  20. Crossmen can't be pleased with being 6th in drums. That does not bode well. Brass did a nice job as did the guard!
  21. Way to go Crown! Great performance! Nice to see all the tweaks since Thursday. Can't wait to see it live in Muncie!
  22. Looks like the weather is going to cooperate! LET'S GO CROWN!!!
  23. It's a SHOW DAY (hopefully)! And it is on Flo! LET'S GO CROWN!!!
