  1. Let's give the corps, their directors, their boards and staffs some credit. The are in bind for the season. On one hand, they've purchased uniforms and equipment plus they've got equipment, real estate and other expenses either paid or due. They have had their revenue streams cut (Bingo Games Closed) and for sure a full season canceled. But they also have health people on staff and DCI HQ has their people and I am confident they will make the right decision the the corps, the staffs, the fans and marching members. They are collectively evaluating every decision for the best of all. But on the other hand, if they stand on the sideline, do nothing, they already have a lot invested which will be lost. Kind of like standing on the edge of a pool trying to decide if it's safe to swim. They have to move forward to some degree to stay alive as an organization. When the risks are minimal, conditions are improved, the mechanics of producing a season of competition are complete, they will let fans know ......... In the meantime, we wait.
  2. Yeah, they're pretty crazy on the other side of bay. I stay away from SF as much as possible.
  3. Rather than a negative attitude "It can't be done", I prefer a positive attitude. Many of the SIlicon Valley giants have developed products and procedures using a concept known as "Quality Circles" This process is pretty straight forward. You throw out ideas no matter how outrageous. You do this until no further ideas can be thought of. Then you go back over the list and quantify or judge the merits of an idea finally choosing a best course of action. I believe it can be done and I can think of 2 solutions right now for sleeping. Like I said, one just has think outside the box. The bigger problem is an audience of fans. We'll have to wait and see what them come up with. Even that problem could be tackled like the NBA is proposing. The shows could all be streamed by FLO with no audience.
  4. Here is Bio for Genghis Barbie for those interested https://www.genghisbarbie.com/bio-page Genghis Barbie, the leading post post-feminist feminist all-female horn experience, is the most innovative and energizing chamber ensemble of its generation and beyond. Performing arrangements of pop music from all eras, contemporary commissions, and classical works, they are the most versatile and expansive group on NYCs classical/pop/rock/jazz/indie/ alternative/punk/electro-acoustic scene. Balancing individual careers in symphony orchestras in addition to their busy New York City performing schedule, the ladies of Genghis Barbie have performed at multiple International Horn Society Symposiums, premiered a solo commission at Carnegie Hall, and appeared on America's Got Talent. Recently, their recording of "Take on Me" was featured in an episode of the HBO show "The Leftovers." As educators, they have toured numerous universities presenting workshops, masterclasses, and lectures on musical entrepreneurship. They have released five studio albums: the self-titled debut album, the holiday album Genghis Barbie: Home for the Holidays, Genghis Baby: Songs for Noa, their second pop album, Amp it Up!, and the newest album of all-classical arrangements, “2 Legit.” Sheet music of their exciting arrangements is now available on their website, GenghisBarbie.com. 5. There are 50 + videos on youtube for Genghis Barbie. First time I've seen them. I like it.
  6. Here is a sample Take On Me by Genghis Barbie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYrcNLC8wMc
  7. That is so awesome. Here's the url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_qjdZCEr10 I notice it's Blue Devils staff that contributed to the production
  8. Yes but, if one thinks outside of the box, there might be other solutions. I'm thinking of the "Just In Time Inventory" concept the businesses use to order inventory. If units arrived at a location shortly before performing then on to next venue, that might be one solution. I would be more concerned about the fans. No doubt, there a host of mechanical issues to solve to make it all work, but it can be solved. Just think positive.
  9. This is Great News! It's mentioned in this update posted on DCI.org today. With hope for a safe and vastly improved environment in the coming weeks, current efforts include developing a revised and compressed schedule for the 2020 DCI Summer Tour.

  11. I like Big Bold And Brassy which reminds me of an Enoch Light album called: Enoch Light And The Light Brigade ‎– Big Bold And Brassy Percussion In Brass
  12. Anyone else getting bored with the doom & gloom? Any new topics for discussion? Here's a video to watch The Rolling Stones -- Doom And Gloom (Lyric Video) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPFGWVKXxm0
  13. Yes, think that went down last night. Good move. I've got one of those Indian Casinos down the street from me and in our country very strict size restrictions of 10 or less in gatherings and they are still open. Don't think they got the message.
  14. OK, it may very well happen. It's a 6 - 8 week time out. Relax, keep everyone safe and it can be assessed at a later date how and whether to proceed.
  15. Now there's a nice gig to do on the late night grave shift. I hear than stores all across the country can't hire enough people to stock shelves after hours. No crowds, earn some extra cash. Sounds good to me.
  16. Like me, you buy the Infomercial stuff too, (HA, HA) and I got that stretch rubber band thing too.
  17. A Word of Encouragement Things are changing by the hour. It's only been 1 day since major community announcements. We still have have 6 - 8 weeks ahead. Take a deep breath and relax. Stay safe, and follow reasonable precautions. Things are improving each day and will continue to improve. We will get through this.
  18. Yes, just went to see if I could find out anything about her. Found a facebook page with that name which links to Blue Stars DB&C. If that's her, she appears to still be active in the activity.
  19. Wonderful, Are there any video links on youtube or vimeo to watch?
  20. They already have made such a movie. Watched this the other night. I expected it to be like the the lo budget monster flicks but was surprised at how well it was done. The storyline was so close to current events, it could have been a documentary. If you're not too put off on the subject, I would recommend watching this movie. All of this from a bat, a banana and a pig. It actually helped me realize how to not touch so many surfaces and how quickly this can spread.
