  1. I just UN-friended George. Maybe the few thousand other people who are on his friends' list might want to consider doing the same.
  2. Gentlemen, I have, on my desk, a letter from Tim Snyder of BOX5 Media saying that they are going to give me $30.00 off of my 2012 order of at least $50.00 because of their "screw-ups" with the 2011 DCA product. What is DCA going to do about this since they took over the sales from BOX5? I can not see anything on the DCA website that would take this into consideration. When you take over from BOX5, you need to also take over their liabilities.
  3. How about DCA placing a "sample" feed on their website so we can check out the streaming quality and our internet connections? Before I make a twenty dollar donation to DCA, I need to know if the feed would be "enjoyable" video quality-wise. Will it be 240, 360, 480 or 720 ? What will the video format be ? Will the "lag" be buffered or just dropped? Inquireing minds need to know!
  4. The next rehearsal for the Sunrisers will be held on January 8th, 2011, at the Brentwood High School (Click for Directions), Sonderling Building, where the corps will continue learning their 2011 program of Les Misérables which will be played in Bb. See you all next year on January 8th with rehearsal beginning at 11:00 AM. All of the Sunrisers' Staff and Management wish the very best to all during the upcoming Holiday Season. We look forward to welcoming everyone who would like to march and play with the 7 time DCA World Champions.

  6. It looks like this needs to be done. It's just too bad that nobody at Box 5 bothered to review their output before shipping the product. No quality control. If they really do this properly, their profit for 2010 is gone.
  7. Tom, That is what I plan to do. I just wanted to know if I was not alone with this situation.
  8. Received my full set of DVD's today. The first one played (individual performance) was labeled (on the disk) "Hurricanes" Open Class Prelins. That was NOT what was on the disk. It was the Kidsgrove Scouts. There also seems to be a big problem with the on-field camera, probally not having the proper settings for the conditions. There is extreme "ghosting" and out of focus everytime there is movement by the corps. I found this problem on the Alumni disk as well. I'll check the other disks over the next few days. I hope they get better.
  9. The Long Island Sunrisers enjoyed a very successful 2011 Open House. Held in their brand new home at Brentwood High School, Sonderling Building, the corps was well represented in all captions: Brass, Percussion and even a few members of the Color Guard who were gladly received by Caption Head Tracy Bapst. The Brass section enjoyed a brief ensemble rehearsal lead by Caption Head Joe Sitler, along with the same in percussion led by Caption Head Jayson Mckenna and all were well organized and informative to the members which consisted of returnees from last years corps that did not field and new members who were very excited to start their way back to a promising 2011 season. The Management team led by Director Gary Williams and Business Manager Nat Mazyck, were extremely excited with the attitude and positive spirit of the members and staff as well. All went well without a hitch and was also attended by a group of very happy alumni who were very pleased to see their drum corps make a extremely positive attempt at a comeback year. Not wanting to leave anyone out, the alumni will not be named here, but were also instrumental in the exciting attitude of the younger members of the 2011 Sunrisers. The next rehearsal will be held on December 11th, 2011, where the corps will start learning their 2011 program of Les Misérables which will be played in Bb. See you on December 11th with rehearsal beginning at 11:00 AM. All new members are asked to remember their registration fee of $10.00 which as stated is a one time fee, also if you have a Bb instrument, you are asked to bring it to the next rehearsal. Have a happy two weeks and we look forward to welcoming even newer members at the next gathering.

  13. My problem with the current vendor is: They previewed the videos at Rochester on 9x15 TV's, stretching the picture to fill the screen. This gives the impression, to the unwary, that these videos are in wide screen. When called on this, they hemed n hawed, but finally admitted their ruse. I ordered the full audio package for 2007. Of all the corps, only 4 would play. I complained and was sent a new set. The same thing happened, only different corps would play. I gave up. They told me they checked the cd's before they sent them. They lied! I tried them on 3 different CD players and 2 different DVD players. SAME PROBLEM! I'll never buy anything from them again!
  14. On August 4, 2007 in Binghamton, NY, the Reading Buccaneers won their 25th show in a row. The streak started on June 18, 2005 in Wildwood, NJ. They have not lost since September 5, 2004 at DCA finals in Scranton, PA. Does anyone know what the record is for “modern” drum corps? My thoughts on “modern” drum corps would be 1960 on...
