  1. Yeah, don’t put too much thought into one competition’s scores. All is well
  2. I mean, to be fair, they completely restructured the closer, redid the ending drill, and added another drum break to the show. That’s some pretty substantial stuff haha
  3. Can confirm. Also, changes are always going to be a little bit unsettling, regardless of them being good or bad. Just the nature of both the audience and performers getting acclimated to newness.
  4. Eh, I just don't see that being the case. That's been the concern for some all year since Midwest Premier, but they've kept pushing, adding, and cleaning, all of which has been reflected in the scores. Also, when you look at the people at Phantom now, I just don't think it's within this staff's nature to give a corps less than they can handle.
  5. Blue Stars are so so so talented, but I think show design is going to hold them back this season. Just doesn’t have *it* in my opinion, despite the members performing the heck out of the show.
  6. From what I’ve seen, the closer changes are gonna be a BIG hit for everyone on here. I was ecstatic when I first saw them and they’re gonna do wonders for scores I think.
  7. Very excited to see it in a performance. Some people on here will be very happy with the closer changes, too.
  8. I think a LOT of people are underestimating the talent that Cavies have. For me, that’s never been a question. You can tell that they’re fighting through adversity and they’re making huge progress with every day. The question for me is can they overcome what right now looks to be an unfocused, inefficient show design? Maybe it’ll come together more as they clean it, but I’ll say it again, the design does the talented membership a huge disservice.
  9. I blame the mess that was visual proficiency tonight. Not sure anyone can take much from those scores.
  10. Yeah, not sure I’ve ever seen a corps be 8th in content then 3rd in achievement. Certainly interesting whatever Moss was doing tonight
  11. Clean up the percussion and visual and it’s untelling what they’re capable of!
  12. Sidenote: Back in 2018/2019, I wasn’t sure I’d ever say a sentence like that^ ever again. It’s frankly bewildering how quickly they’ve turned things around in Rockford.
  13. Phantom is gunning for fifth or sixth this year and they ain’t settling for sixth. This show is going to be amazing by Indy.
  14. I’m biased, but Phantom has the most beautiful, emotional show this year for me. Just absolutely gorgeous. Those changes in the closer had me tearing up. Once it’s cleaned up, it’s going to be ridiculously good. So glad Phantom is actually back.
  15. Boston is phenomenal. Just uber talented. I honestly think the show could be MORE challenging for them
  16. I think one of the coolest things over the last couple of years has been seeing Stars really develop a reputation and identity. Gorgeous brass, phenomenal full-field drill, and just all around strong design. Very very cool to see!
  17. A lot of sickness/injuries going on tonight (although Cavies are definitely the majority sadly)
  18. MUCH better performance tonight for Cavies, but I still feel like the design is doing them a huge disservice. They’re clearly talented, but it’s being inhibited by weird pacing and just a bit too much chaos in the arrangements (and even drill sometimes).
  19. Are Cavies missing quite a few people tonight?
  20. OHHH, I completely misread your post. That makes a lot more sense! Sorry! Yeah, you’re probably right unless Phantom comes out and makes a statement against BAC (which I’m not predicting to be totally honest). Phantom’s best shot of making it interesting is in Brass and GE. But even if they’re in the BAC realm of scores there, they just aren’t to the visual and percussion level that BAC’s at, and I think that’s also where Cavies and BS have the best chance to capitalize.
  21. I’m confused, why should that have an impact? Not saying it won’t happen (who knows with DCI judging?), but Phantom went on before Crown twice and still grew their point gap over BS/Cavies on both occasions.
  22. Agree 100% with this, I think Cavies end up better than we would expect right now. I don’t think they have the strongest design personally, but they have plenty of room to grow score-wise in what they do have in Music and Visual. GE is a different story imo, but that’s ofc based on my own tastes and subjective opinion. The only issue though is that the corps around them (BS, Mandarins, even Troopers now) are seeing similar boosts in different areas. Phantom and Cadets are also showing no signs of slowing down in their score growth. I see a major plateau coming for everyone, so the question is really going to be who does it affect the most? However, if the aforementioned corps continue to competitively improve and Cadets/Phantom regress a bit more from their own tier due to plateaus, the entirety of 5-10 could be up for grabs (with different ranges for different corps ofc).
  23. Phantom and Cadets for sure, just because both were given an easier path to the top-six as a result. Phantom even more so thanks to the amount of veterans and staff that moved to Rockford.
