  1. Bad Flo Day. Amature Night! production talent maybe Reflective of Market Size? Grrrrr! Multi-cam direction was hidious! Mic Placement atrocious, MC Mic Clueless. Stayed with High Camera. Nice looking Green Field.
  2. May I add to "Chords", IMHO: T O O Long, Overused, and has become too Cliché specifically among the Top 12. More Musical "NOTE" books have become, "Screaming Contests!" Bad for my bleeding ears, which have lost 20% hearing in both ears, thanks in part to all the over amplification. Waiting for my new Ear Plugs.
  3. TimK. I can empathize with your sad but to the point, not so "controversial", but more "observational" Truths from your/my own 58 years experience within the Drum Corps Activity. With Age Comes Wisdom: For years I have selectively limited the DCP "Topics/Threads" to engage in. Too Old, too Smart, Too TIRED, to wage an often winless DCP War of opinion, that at times becomes way too harmful, to the point of becoming toxic.
  4. On the "Lowend" here's a High Five on your appreciated observations! Spot On. First my "DrumCorpsRelic" disclaimer. I marched with a Boston Area Corps (NO NOT THAT ONE! LOL) From 1964-1972. Thus a very Active and Proud and Out Loud Marching Member, Corps Board of Director. Since 2004, I've grew to become a Loyal, Die Hard, "Honker?!" Volunteer, Financial supporter, Tour Navigator, Corps Home Show TV Promo Producer/Editor, A Company/Employee Sponsor. Lastly, I became a life long, "1969 LP Cover, inspired, "Troopers of Casper, Wyoming", "24" Cymbal Line Groupee and Simplex Minutemen, Gardner, MA performer 1971-72. Today at 72 years young, I've become more of a Drum and Bugle Corps fan since I turned 65. I'll make it Simple. Change in anything and is inevitable, and ever evolving. You either go with the Flow or find yourself overwhelmed, disheartened and accepting of it or not. It's your gift that comes with "Free Will". Taste, Style, Music, Design, Uniforms vs. Costumes, Tradition dies hard, but makes us members of the "Old Guard" may define todays "Drum Corps" as "Non-Compliant". What is found on the field of competition today, Be it Good, Bad, Indifferent "IS, What It Is." Drum Corps, Marching Band, or any Pageantry of the Arts," has ironically and expressively become a direct "Reflection" of our Culture we now find ourselves in. We don't always like what we see in the mirror. But as the saying goes: "That Train has left the Station" and made new tracks into the future. "All Aboard?" I thought Not. All the Best to all the Corps out there, on or off the 2022 DCI Summer Tour. Particularly to THE ACADEMY, as they build "A World of Your/My Imagination." Happy Oompa-Loompas you All Are! E N J O Y !
  5. 👍...Or Tide W/ Oxy Clean! I heard a rumor that SCV+BVD may have a thing going!? 🤫🤥
  6. It's "The 2022 DCI "White Out" Summer Tour." I suggest every souvi booth should be selling eye drops and sun glasses, to cut down eye strain and glare. It should be interesting to take note of any possible GE scoring advantage that Corps performing in a various pallet of "Colors" may have over Corps included in this DCI "White Out Tour." Surely any color will be a welcomed relief and in sharp contrast to an otherwise White Inundated Field of competition. How could a judge, particularly the GE judges, not notice and award a "Corps Performing in an array of Color well deserved "extra!?" GE points compared to those Corps literally performing in all White Uniforms. My thinking, and assuredly there are those who will take offense to what they consider to be "my Stinking Thinking,"(to each their own.) But I must question again, how many possible, GE Points, Which we all know can crucially decide who WINS or NOT! may be the result of a few precious tenths of points literally left on the field and obliterated due to the glairing blindness created by a "Uniformly White Out". Moderators: Up for discussion and debate, perhaps create a new "Corps White Out" Topic/Thread? I'm Game.
  7. "Forevergreen" You must be a Barbara "Barbra" Streisand fan, Yes? LOL I do believe sir, that your 2016 experience most certainly does able for you to anticipate "Some Great Features", and I too with sweet anticipation have creative expectations of my own for THE ACADEMY Production and Musical Book Tour. That is what is going to make "A Creation of My Imagination" brew all season long. My guess and hope is, the Pieces of the staffs collective brain trust, will slowly evolve, developing over time and duration of the entire DCI Summer Tour. Oh what fun for me, the fans in the stands and those following the Corps through FloMarching Streaming the majority of the Corps, Coast to Coast Stops. We're all going to be taken along for the ride as witnesses and recipients of what their imaginations can conjure up for their favorite Corps. I can only, with delicious anticipation await, for what "final" delights could possibly be in store during THE ACADEMY'S "CREATION of My Imagination" along its 11,000 mile journey to Indy. I am as Giddy as a "Oompa-Loompas". And I think, there just may be a few of us, feeling and singing the same tune this summer. ENJOY!
  8. KVG-DC; Someone earlier mentioned that they thought the ballad THE ACADEMY performs in "A World Of My Creation" is called "Anthem"? from the musical "CHESS."? but, I confess, I am unfamiliar with both the song and musical. I am still awaiting release of THE ACADEMY Repertoire. Some music major in DrumCorpsDom must be able to recognize the pieces that the Corps Music Arraigner: Steve Vento put together for their 2022 music book. On a side note: The Corps Brass Caption head at the start of THE ACADEMY Memorial Day. Stage music Debut of "A World of My Creation" mentioned that Steve Vento amazingly arraigned a very unique show Opener: "Scene One" that runs for approximately three minutes in length, so that it contains a "music montage" (My Words), of strains from every music selection featured in the show." Sounds like a very cool "musical puzzle" to solve that was actually included in a Show Promotional campaign" designed so that the recipients of various puzzle pieces could figure out the show them for themselves. Quite a novel Idea, I must say. Until then who can? piece THE ACADEMY repertoire together from Opener to Closer?
  9. THE ACADEMY 2022 Uniforms redefines "Classic". I understand that Fruhauf Uniforms, actually created a brand new material for them. The rich details in patterned designs in the Purple Tuxedo Jackets and Pants are absolutely stunning. within the material design details are Rich, under the lights are absolutely stunning especially under the bright stadium lights. Simply, Brilliant!
  10. WOW! BD, I love it. The Uniform Really Pops on the Field. Screams "World Class," as much as your Show this year. Looking, as usual, Like real Winners to me. Have a Terrific Tour. See you Next Saturday at THE ACADEMY's "Drums Across The Desert" Home Show in Tempe, AZ ASU Sun Devil Stadium, next Saturday, July 2nd.
  11. YES! Cadevilina Crown, I certainly hope So Too! Now that FloMarching has revealed or exposed SCV, in what some may recognized as Night Shirts/PJ's/Undergarments, typical sleep wear. (At Least From the High Camera shot). I seriously suspect that SCV will get more appropriately Dressed or Suited up, prior to arriving in Indy come August.
  12. Yes, that is the way I saw and Felt it also! They Looked (in Their Royal Purple Brilliantly detailed Uniforms the very definition of 'Classy." Fruhauf Uniforms continues to outfit THE ACADEMY in a very Unique Classic Style that is all their own. Their music book is Familiar, Fun, hummable destined to become a Fan, Friendly Favorite. The Academy Tubas intro to the "Oompa-Loompas" Song WILL become a "Corps Moment" that will evoke a broad smile of familiarity from the "Child" within us all at every show. For me, this 71 Year Old "DrumCorpsRelic", following the development of "A World Of My Creation" throughout every Corps stop thru FloMarching streaming, is going to be like another visit, to my local penny candy store as a kid. ENJOY! I Know I Will!
  13. The Academy just completed its second show (At the Rose Bowl" tonight) and its repertoire is still not posted on its academy.org website
  14. I Totally agree with you JohnZ, and hope for the same. Come next week in SoCal, The LIVE, FloMarching streaming of THE ACADEMY Performances, June 24, 25 & 27, should provide an the early indication of what the fans in the stands and those viewing on FloMarching can come to expect. After several initial listening and viewings, (NO SPOILERS) I did come away with a Strong Energetic sense and matching vibe from from the marching members and in the audience response to "A WORLD OF MY CREATION" production.
  15. When More Is Better: In defense of "Lindsey Vento," I enjoyed some hilarious conversations with her. YES, I firmly agree that she is very talented and the custodian of an exhaustive "Creative Mind". I admired the audacity of Lindsey Vento, much Like that of Tammy Faye. Both women were, unapologetically, living Their True Authentic Selves. They both possessed a Rare Gift, that "Present"ed" itself, in full public display for its receptive audiences. Their innate ability to light up a room with such passion and fervor was and to this day contagious. They were "Eye Candy" on first sight. I dare say both are Iconic. What I am so grateful for and appreciative of, was like so many others, was being able to bear witness as these two "individuals" who Lived and Will Live to Enjoy Knowingly or Not their "Legacy" in their lifetimes. In Closing, I promise. The "Vento" Legacy will continue to Grow and Develop by way of Lindsey's husband Steve, who is the music arraigner/music coordinator for THE ACADEMY 2022 Summer Tour production: "A WORLD OF MY CREATION". HEY! keystone3ply, I hope you ENJOY The Show.
  16. Raceman 132: I am in total agreement with your initial assessment of THE ACADEMY "Send Off" show. THE ACADEMY 2022 production: "A WORLD OF MY IMAGINATION." It surely got me to stand up and take notice! Over the years THE ACADEMY has developed a following and reputation for presenting Fan Friendly shows, in very entertaining "Story Telling Fashion." Thanks to FloMarching, Fans will be able to catch their three, June SoCal shows prior to attending it's stellar "World Class" home Show line-up, July 2nd at Arizona State Sun Devil Stadium. Getting to actually follow the development of the Corps "Creation" throughout the DCI Summer Tour, should prove to be quite tasty and Delightfully Satisfying. ENJOY!
