  1. Ok -- Lets just say this. No matter WHAT the "Cadets" play, sing, speak , narrate.............. They are the Dominating force in the Universe ! No one can match them nor beat them! They are to be considered what every other DIV 1 corps should strive to be. No matter what they do, how they do it.... they are GODS ! And the Judges know this and consistantly reward them for just that --- CONSISTENCY! If they stray from that form, it's not their faults, blame the other corps out there. If other corps can't meet, beat or compete with those from Bergen County, y'all better fold because you will never beat them no matter what you do! HEAR THAT PHANTOM REGIMENT ???????????? ==================================================================== Ok, I woke up from my terrible nightmare! Now C'mon ! It's June folks! And the way I see it there are only two scenarios here in DIV 1 ........... Cadets win ---or --- Cavies repeat. end of story. Now, as a die hard, Phantom Phan, supported, booster, volunteer, sponsor.... I have a sublime recolection of 1996 when Regiment went from 4th to 1st, and this show seems to have just as much potential! I don't believe we've seen all that Rockford has in store for their visual and musical book, so THIS "I" BELIEVE................................... Regiment will surprise us all by their dedication, perseverence and silent quest to put the best show out there they can, and you know what? They will be THE REAL winners .... not thos yielding a big DCI trophy! SARCASM OFF --- off my soapbox
  2. Ok, I HAVE TO chime in here. I have volunteered at least 25-30 times with the souvie crew - although NOT in the last three yrs, but all I can say is that those girls/ladies are the funnest, hard working 'volunteers' I have EVER been around. Rude? I think not! Perhaps it was one of those show they were shorthanded (as they sometimes have been) and were totally wrong out! I can tell you, when Jackie Williams was on tour, she ran a very tight selling strategy -- small items were off to the side where Mary would be assisting those folks and the wearables were at the trailer. I miss those times, but can say that I'll be back in 2007 !!! Please, before calling anyone rude --- remember these same folks sleep on the ame gym floors, eat from the food truck and often do "triple duty" during the day BEFORE the show even starts! So, do me a favor. Volunteer and get a feel for what they really do -- and oh, please, no matter how tired, sore or worn out you are -- don't be rude! In defense of the Regiment and their staff/volunteers --- Trisha Longo
  3. JD Shaw quite the horn player ??? YOU BET!! I have every one of the BOSTON BRASS CD's and they are awesome. JD Shaw & group (Boston Brass) did a CD a few trs back with an orgainst friend of min! The CD was called, not to mention the great sound: "Out of This World!" He was quite the soloist too I recall. 91 being his best year, but I'm biased to Pagliacchi! :P In any event, I talked with him briefly in Allentown in 03' and he is such a consumate lover of mid brass, guess it comes from "being" in that aura and the gorgeous writtings of Jim Wren that gave him the fire he has, but he is, undoubtedly, ONE OF the BEST there is are far as mello players go, and making quite the name for himself as far as brass charts go! Best wishes PR....see you in Pittsburgh and Allentown! Can't wait!!
  4. Ok, been readin' all about PR's brass book from 03' to this year and I'm now wondering WHO actually wrote/scored the mello runs in PR (03 & 04) ?? If JD Shaw wrote the brass "book" both years, then would he not, as the chief writter, write those runs also? I know caption heads and other staff make adjustments to the book and pages as the season progresses, but those mello runs were in the 03' PR book very, very early in the season, and I imagine the same is true for this year. As a mellophone player as long as I can remember, they are "to die for". Last year, I video taped, photographed and audio recorded two (2) days of rehearsal in Allentown, PA. In sectionals, I recorded (audio & vdeo) all separately for approx 15 mins a piece, and the meloo and baritone parts were so interwoven, it's unbelieveable !! Anyone have the scoop? My musical intuition is this: JD Shaw wrote them, the staf (Rabon and other's) perfected them and got them to be as awesome as they were! All I can say, standing in front of the baritones practiceing the 'Canon Reprise' last year is that thosee King horns are F****ing LOUD!!!! Trisha
  5. I have not seen nor heard ANY of PR's stuff YET this year! Been so busy at work, traveling etc, I'm not sure I even have a home (kidding of course) anymore! Anyway SUPER REVIEW! Glad PR is getting the visual under wraps to some degree but they better tighten the ship up soon. Perhaps cutting out ** some ** of the dancewaork from spots that may not really need it? Not haveing sen the show yet, it seems that the footwork, and perhaps, according to dome * too much* dancing (??). 2003 was the best thing for "me" since 1996.... Having said that, I'm glad PR is coming 'out of it's proverbial shell', and trying some new composers/music. Speaking of brass, the new king horns have a lot to do with it I think. The tone, pitch and power they have over some other brands is exceptional, and they fit PR and their musical style to a "T". JD Shaw is *awesome* and as a mellophone player all my life, LIVE FOR some of those sweet arrangements and those awesome articulate runs, like 2003. Can't wait to see/hear them in Pittsburgh and Allentown. Should be a good two nights comparison, so until then........... GO PHOR IT PHANTOM !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I Have listened to this clip over & over, and actuually used a equalizer and STILL cannot make out the chords Anyone, NIkk P., other's that were there (In OrLando) know what this is?
