  1. High Cam didn't really fit it in frame today anyway.
  2. Even judges are having trouble getting those seats this year...
  3. Whoever put that in the show was clearly inspired by the "We Will Rock You" creation scene in "Bohemian Rhapsody."
  4. Shout out to the guard member who helped out her fellow guard member by tossing her rifle to her when it bounced 10 yards away. I just love seeing teamwork like that.
  5. It’s okay man...it’s not the size of the font, it’s what you type with it.
  6. I couldn’t tell if they were actually having difficulty or if that’s what they were just portraying.
  7. As old school as it might be, I would love them to do Earth, Wind, and Fire. In particular, I’d love to hear “Fantasy,” “Shining Star,” “Getaway,” and “Serpentine Fire.”
  8. Yeah, somehow they managed to completely leave out the Visual Performance score initially. So they added the Visual Analysis and Color Guard scores but still divided by 2. That means rather than a possible 60 points being divided by 2 it was a possible 40 points being divided by 2. The crowd was stunned when they announced the 67. When everyone was leaving, it was like walking in slow motion. Glad it was just a tabulation error.
  9. Still waiting on World Class scores. There were only two corps, not sure why it’s taking so long.
  10. They really do look great under the right lighting conditions, but I really wonder if they’ll lose a lot of their effect in a dome. Also, when they're NOT lit up after being lit up for a while, it makes the field suddenly look REALLY dull because their uniforms/costumes are so neutral. Bit of a trade-off for the effect, I suppose.
  11. Appreciative hometown crowd for subTerra. Mandarins made several changes to their show from the last time I saw, both musically and visually. Musically, they’ve removed some of the mud from the top of “On the Shoulders of Giants,” they’ve changed some of the harmonics at the beginning of the ballad, and they added some chord changes to their final notes of the show (LOVED that particular change). Visually, they no longer have the intruder climb up and battle the DM during the ballad—instead he now struggles with a brass member on the wagon behind the brass, which makes the staging more effective. The really big deal is that they now have MANY people hanging from bungee cords at a couple points in the show. It’s not really utilized too much yet, but I’m sure they’ll be making more out of it soon. Unfortunately, it was particularly windy tonight so the guard had some rough moments with some of their really big weapon tosses, but that’ll iron out once they’re inside a dome. The audience really applauded when during the final chords some mortar fireworks went off in the distance, perfectly timed. posted from the DrumScorps app
  12. Mandarins up next!!! posted from the DrumScorps app
  13. Some really cool music for PC. This is my favorite show of theirs in quite a while from a pure listening standpoint. The lighted triangle props showed up very well in person. A few times they use a quick-flickering effect that honestly makes me wonder if there’s any seizure risk involved. Their soloists were great but quite a bit over-amplified, IMO. Nice solid finish, PC! posted from the DrumScorps app
  14. Pacific Crest has tarps around their front ensemble to mirror the triangle shape. posted from the DrumScorps app
  15. Intermission right now, and Pacific Crest is on deck. The sun has gone down but it’s not quite dark yet. I hope PC’s lights in their props show up. posted from the DrumScorps app
  16. Vanguard Cadets’ show is entitled “What About Us.” GREAT sound and volume from their brass, and some really well-timed ensemble stabs. They use some interesting props that they stack and link together to make benches, ramps, or chairs. They sport the same marching technique as their A corps, and they had the requisite ensemble dance section as well. Nice job! posted from the DrumScorps app
  17. I think they announced the theme as “Recollection” or something like that (sorry, having trouble hearing the announcer). I didn’t quite follow the story (if there was one) but they’re doing a great job with it. Highlights for me: the ballad (pretty sure that was Lionel Richie’s “Hello”) and the way they featured their all-male (I think) rifle line. The latter felt so old school to me! Great job, BDB. posted from the DrumScorps app
  18. BDC with a fun California-themed show. Lots of familiar tunes and some gutsy brass soloists. Nice job, C Corps! posted from the DrumScorps app
  19. Judges: GE 1: Chumley GE 2: (missed it) Music Analysis: Dunn Visual Analysis: Ochran Visual Performance: Nelson Brass: Rubino Percussion: Kristensen CG: Miller posted from the DrumScorps app
  20. National Anthem will be played by the inaugural Mandarins Alumni Brassline! posted from the DrumScorps app
  21. Based on the program, looks like there’s no Alisal CAN Marching Band, but there will be a Soundsport Exhibition.
