MURFREESBORO MASHUP JULY 28
brassboy replied to Phantom56's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Are you watching on a TV? An LG TV maybe? Because I was watching mostly on my computer and didn't notice any exposure adjusting, but when I watch on my LG TV, the auto-dimming kicks in to protect the screen, and there's no easy way to disable it. -

Which surprises the heck out of me because I feel the same. -

Is the sound still muted by Flo for everyone else? -
I mean, they do have a decent number of ageouts. About 40, I believe. But in their battery, I hear that only ONE is aging out.

It doesn’t even LOOK like a waffle iron. Panini press, maybe.

This is what really excites me. Regardless of their final placement this season, Mandarins’ show this year is THE best advertisement for the corps to prospective members, so I’m hopeful that next year they’ll see a huge influx of incredible talent who can continue this competitive growth and really let the creative team soar.

But I can’t believe they skipped over the ballad of all parts!!!
-
I absolutely will NOT look closely! LOL

OMG...OUCH!!!

Somebody over on “that website” posted a video of last night’s performance. If you maybe looked for Mandarins DCI Monroe 2023 you might find something interesting to see. Edit: I just noticed that the media link guidelines DO allow YouTube links, so here ya go: https://youtu.be/GCzx5Y2uA_I

Did it bug you at all that the stands weren't parallel to the front sideline?

My exact feeling. I’m interpreting the tarp ring around the pit to be planet earth, which is why they end the show on it. -
https://dci.org/news/explainer-how-performance-order-is-set-for-2023-dci-tour “4. — DCI Eastern Classic (August 4-5 in Allentown) performance orders will be based on reverse order of placement from the DCI Southeastern Championship (Atlanta) and NightBeat (Winston-Salem). For corps only performing in one of those two events, their individual score will be used. Corps participating in both events will have their two scores averaged. Final order will be drawn at random, in groupings of three.”

I know there's a LOT of drum corps support in the south, but I wish the tour didn't have to go through the south. 😞

Also reinforces to the MMs what they CAN accomplish when they're all locked in. They've been rehearsing at the show site today, so hopefully they'll feel super confident tonight.

With presumably limited rehearsal time in TX (due to heat), I wonder if they spent less time in sections woodshedding stuff. After Monroe, I imagine they'll have a bit more music focus. -

FWIW (I know, not much), same judges as last night with I think 2 exceptions. -

Will be curious to hear how your son felt about tonight's performance. If they had a great show and this was the result, that will probably be a little harder for them to swallow tonight. -
