  1. Hey yeah, I remember that site! We stayed right down from you guys! Dorms...oh man, having a bed for a morning on tour was awesome. It was also fun running up to the trucks and saying hi to all you guys. Good weather too on a nice field. I'll have fond memories of Troy... Oh ya, and that was where the Kappa Kappa Psi kids drove by before we left and gave us sodas. I loved Troy!
  2. A little more information for ya! The evening of the 18th, IYMA will be holding a block party in downtown Denver. Gates open at 3pm and will run tilll, well, whenever - it's a block party! 3. hmmm, could be, i see the point. so if a corps was to win all shows in finals this season we would call that a sweep. but if that same corps were to win a show and all captions, it would be classified as a 'clean sweep'. on another note, hey, someone got a broom for the corps who gets the sweep? (old navy tradition from ww2 and submarines, you put it upside down bristles up out the door in our case to signify a sweep, or in their case, no damage/losses...yes, i'm joining the navy)
  4. Yeah I think that is the correct usage of the term....winning EVERYTHING. Not just 1st if u have different divisions... Man law? haha
  5. More information coming soon, stay tuned.
  6. Ow. My head hurts. Last time I'm coming to Vegas for regional weekend. And by that I mean I'll definitely be back next time. B)
  7. Hmmmm, so Galen called it. I smell a rat - but then again, this IS Las Vegas! Blue Angels had a rockin time tonight. Thanks to Shannon and all the other corps for making this memorable. We'll see y'all in Murfreesboro, off to Tucson!
  8. Oh ya, forgot about the card game, well, the kids will understand, I'll see them to the show later...
  9. Tell ya what, we'll switch the silver medals with you tonight if you beat us. :-P Good breakfast by the way. Sorry to see the little fight going on between those two. Hmmmm. Well, I'm headed out to their practice site now. Got a few more hours of practice before the show. Just got a sheet from one of our staff, *shhhh* but we've placed an average of 2nd in our shows to date. Actually, it's 2.5. But not bad!
  10. So I've never been to Vegas - but so far I'm liking it. I'm afraid though I lost about $5 before I even made it out of the airport. Oops. Well, thanks Shannon for picking me up. I have to say, I was a little :spit: when I saw the scores last night so short notice I know, but hey, Vegas is better than Pittsburgh. Let's party! :mmm:
  11. Well, White Stars are a little bummed out tonight. The corps was geared up to go out and lay it down tonight, but things seem to be going a little rough again. We placed in 7th tonight, after what we considered a great showing. We'll be heading back to our housing site tonight and we'll be going to the Sandcastle Waterpark in Pittsburgh tomorrow for some much needed relaxation before heading to Meridian, MS for a day of work. Bleu Knights had a surprisingly rough night tonight, after making some great leaps and bounds things sorta caught up with us and we got 4th. No finals for us. The Guard had some consolation by taking the caption - we've won at least one caption every show since Grants Pass, OR. We'll be heading down to San Diego tomorrow for a practice day and then taking Sunday off at Sea World San Diego before our next show in the same city on the 13th. We'll be back. On a happy note Blue Angels are absolutely stoked tonight! We're gonna admit we weren't expecting too much, but we came out smoking and earned a 2nd place! Wow, to come from 40th in our first season and now we got a silver in the West regional! Well, back to the school for a good nights rest and we'll be back tomorrow. Afterwards, we'll be heading to Tucson for more work. The kids all voted to postpone our free day until later this week after the Tucson show. We're hoping to get a water park for them. So it was a mixed night for IYMA - a night of highs and lows. We'll take it and support Blues tomorrow and we'll see y'all later this week!
  12. As per my PM back, I agree on the fact it's not in the rules. But I'm looking in the long run I guess....that it will all even out.
  13. Well, as far as I understand it you don't get any more points to play with. Sounds fine to me.
  14. Haha, okay, so now we have determined you can lose, and tie yourself. I think we're all marginally insane. Okay, you want smack talk. Um, you suck. Go me. :P
  15. Wow, if that's not a battle going on inside your own head I don't know what is! :P You might wanna get that checked out haha. I wonder.... Is it possible to lose to yourself?
  16. There was talk last year of having it as a pre-show/CD thing, to go along with the Godfather-Italian theme. Never made it past a few camps. Good luck PR, sad I won't see y'all on tour... ...I'll be in Alaska!
  17. Haha, nope, it's under the IYMA family now. Names stay. :P And who said we're landlocked? One of my favorite thing to do is take long walks on the Idaho beaches...um...well, that's the plan when Idaho becomes beachfront property sooner or later!
  18. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Denver, CO, 2/7/2007 - Intermountain Youth Music Association. Bleu Knights are pleased to officially announce the return of Matthew Smith as Co-Director and Program Coordinator. From James McDonald, IYMA Director, "We here at IYMA and Bleu Knights admit that this summer has been a rough one thus far for the corps. We feel that Mr. Smith's return to the activity and corps will be the positive influence and 'shot in the arm' the corps so desperately needs to push ourselves to the next level and power into finals." Mr. Smith made his triumphant return a few days ago in Seattle and has been working diligently with the corps to get them up to his world-renowned stylistic image. The corps, at their yearly homecoming banquet, announced to alumni and boosters of his return, and last night's score in Boise showed it with a jump of over a point. Welcome back Mr. Smith! In other IYWA news Boise, ID was the site last night of the Bleu Knights homeshow. "Thunder on the Blue" took place at the world famous Bronco Stadium of Boise State University - you might know it better as "that blue field" or "smurf turf". We would like to congratulate Oracle, Zenith, and Providence as last night's champions and thank all corps for attending and making this such a great event. We would also like to thank the kind men and women of BSU and the city of Boise, we'll be back next year! ------------- The Intermountain Youth Music Association (IYMA) is a fantasy based family of drum and bugle corps competing on the DCP Fantasy circuit. IYMA is headquartered out of Denver, Colorado. The association is made up of the Division I Blue Angels Drum and Bugle Corps, White Stars Drum and Bugle Corps and the Division II Bleu Knights from Boise, ID. Our goal is the continuation marching music and colorguard studies outside of high school and college for those aged 17-21 in the state of Colorado and the Intermountain West area.
  19. After tough week or two for us, it looks like Blue Angels and White Stars are finally back on track. White Stars took 3rd, then 2nd in the US Open and the corps was very pleased with the outcome. They've been working hard so it's nice to see the hard work and sweat come to something. Heading to the other side of the Cascades seems to have done Blue Angels some good, taking 1st and 2nd in the Everett and Seattle shows after a surprising and frustrating few days. We head to Spokane now and then prepare for the mountain shows of Boise and Ogden (2,000 and 5,000 feet above sea level respectively) before making the push back south into regionals. Bleu Knights are still chugging along, cleaning things up. Everyone was very happy to learn of the return of Matt Smith as program coordinator. He flew in a few days ago and expect to see some changes soon in the show. Moral is high even though we are still searching for our first win. In other IYMA news, the Bleu Knights' homeshow, "Thunder on the Blue", hosted on Boise State University's famous blue-turf is tomorrow evening. We are pleased to welcome such Division 1 powerhouses Oracle, Mystre, and our friends Blue Angels to the show. In Division 2 expect a great battle between Bleu Knights and Zenith, and we welcome Division 3 corps Providence. It should be a great show.
  20. Geez, you guys see Grants Pass last night?! Mystre............. 79.20 El Gigante......... 78.59 Blue Angels........ 78.20 Velour Knights..... 78.18 WOW! Tight one last night, this week in the Northwest should be fun! Tonight is Hillsboro, then Wednesday is Pasco, then Friday is Everett and Saturday at Qwest Field (home of the Seahawks) we have the Seattle show! It's going to be tight because we also add back in Symphony and INergy into the mix. Should be a fun week in the absolutely GORGEOUS Pacific Northwest.
  21. Alrighty then, thanks! Guess I should have seen that when I looked. D'oh! But again thanks for this, very nice addition for more streamlining.
  22. hehe, Redemption, good one Matt. I am really excited to see this young corps take the field this summer, definitely gonna have to strap on the old jacket (actually tried it on yesterday, I can't believe I used to be that big!) and take them some refreshments, I feel for the bari/euphs out there when you come to Idaho in July. yuck. i have a feel this corps is gonna do just fine this summer, from what i've heard the corps is indeed young but full of talent - and I also heard some vets have returned from years long past, which is always good. go scades!
  23. Yes! Thank you! I am very pleased with this, good work gentlemen thank you! EDIT: Is there a place where we can put down which show we want this to go into affect? And to double check we're just putting down the change - not what we currently have. I think that's correct just wanted to double check.
  24. All the IYMA corps have been doing pretty darn well, although this week we are NOT happy with ourselves. Scores have been hurting, but placements have still been strong. Blue Angels after having back to back wins last week are still dueling it out, never placed lower than 3rd thus far, but judges just don't seem to be seeing eye-to-eye with us anymore. We'll see what we can do to turn it around. Bleu Knights are still struggling, we're having a good time doing it though. The corps is still getting their heads around the program - it's tough! But hopefully our fortunes change soon, I've been told the Caption Heads will be having a meeting tonight to discuss the direction of the show. White Stars, after sitting pretty in 3rd overall last week are also finding a struggle this week. We finally had a good night last night and hopefully our fortunes improve again tonight. Frustration set in earlier this week, after dropping over 3 points and placing 4th in Indiana - our first show without a medal, but do not worry, problems and kinks are getting worked out and we were very pleased to have another win last night. Now we have a few days to work on things after tonight's show in Flint, MI and Louisville, KY tomorrow. Expect a few changes on the field this next week in preparation for the US Open!
