  1. 1. How could you be a lead bari with a Euphonium? I remember sometime in the early 90's when ALL of the Phantom lowers played euphs because they were all too #### LOUD and overpowering for those wimpy baris. Was that your year, Nikk? b**bs
  2. That's not a screw-up...that's an embarressing moment. I have no idea why that girl didn't duck behind the pit. I guess no shame, no game. ^OO^
  3. We called him Thelonius...that was a sad, sad day for drum corps. <**>
  4. Why is it only the 1989 version of Phantom of the Opera anyone ever talks about????? Marcia, Marcia, MARCIA!!!!!! Especially when 88's was better.
  5. Here is MY conspiracy theory... That was the year that someone came up with the bright idea that the top 5 corps going into finals would choose numbered cards that would represent their finals night order. As Madison's drum major stood there dazed and confused, not knowing which card to pick, one of the girls points to one, and VOILA, NUMBER ELEVEN. And number 12 went to the defending champion, who had no chance of winning that year. Of course, BD and SCV went on eighth and ninth. SCV should've won that year.
  6. And it wasn't just the music - it was the innovation, the risk, the demand, the emotion. It was their demand for respect for doing something no other corps would dare take a chance doing (becuz no other corps could've done it better). And as much as I know a lot of you aren't going to like to hear this, Star 93 started the trend of really kool brass/percussion visuals. Sure, other corps have waved a horn up and down during drum solo, but Star did so much more with equipment, arms, legs, postures, poses, drill formations, and so on. Why people couldn't appreciate the ARTISTRY of that show I will never understand.
  7. Yeah, we never got used to those type of things. Ignorance........... STAR 1993 was easily the first show to come to mind with me too. Not only did they hear boos when on the field and during retreat, they received many negative postings on RAMD as well. I don't think they got the credit they deserved until Finals night. People were going crazy and a few people around me had tears in their eyes. One of the top 5 shows of all time. ^OO^
  8. Star of Indiana in 1990 Finals preformance was the best hornline show ever, and year after year, they always impressed. And of course, BD is consistently in the top 3 every year.
