  1. Now, I would love to see PR in all black again doing a Requiem show. Verdi alone would send chills down anyones spine and a little Mozart, Brahms and Fuare (take your pick) would only ramp it up. Oops, I forgot Britten's War Requiem which is a monster and a half. Also I love me some Copland, maybe the ballets or the 3rd Symphony. Then again telling a story has served them well so maybe it is time to dig up another classic (hopefuly with a death) Story Ideas 1. Othello (way cool murder!!!) 2. Helen of Troy (too similar in look to Spartacus, maybe in a few years) 3. Pocahantas (Just kidding)
  2. The Academy is doing Mozart this year although not listed. The piece they are doing has Mozart worked into it almost like a variations. I might not be the best person to explain it. Tom, help me.
  3. So, what is the new ending for those of us without Fan Network? Help! I need to know.
  4. Ahwatukee 24 - PHOENIX A lot of The Academy fans will be there but I will be in my Spartacus Tour Shirt!!!
  5. The good news is theat the last week is loaded with performances and with the way we are scoring this should be a good thing. We have 5 performances before Quarterfinals which I believe is a pretty full slate compared to some other corps. We need to show the judges that we are great performers.
  6. Now we have a drop tonight of .35 not sure what happened but this is tough to take after the extra rehersal. I know the corps has tons of talent. I hope they keep fighting.
  7. I think we have at least 15 minutes before scores
  8. I have a report from tour I thought was worth sharing. It looks like the corps passed up a day off yesterday (Sunday) to get in more rehersal. I love the work ethic!!! I hope to see a nice jump tonight.
  9. Looks like we have no live input from the show. Does anyone know how this show in WV is a Phantom home show? It is not uncomon for corps to have remote home shows but this one is strange because of the location. The other remote home show I know is Denton TX is a Cavies home show.
  10. OK, so my worry about the show is a bit confirmed after reviewing the high cam video of the Atlanta show. The PR Guard just does not spend as much time working with equipment as the other top 5. Don't we think this is a bad thing. That aside I do think PR can and I say will win it this year becasue they will pull out all the stops on the last week like we know they can.
  11. Today I am going over to a friends house to watch the show on fan network, my first time since being at Stanford on 7/5. My big concern from looking at the recaps is the guard score which is tied with the visual. What a re the judges not liking? I must admit I was very impressed with what BD was doing and there are times when it seems the PR guard just doesn't have as many moves and skills displayed in the show. This muight be a trade off when doing a themed show. The guard has to spend time telling the story and that can't always be done with a flag or sabre flying around your head.
  12. So, our next show is Monday. I think we need to score over 78 in a serious way. A score over 80 at Allentown would be another goal to fight for.
  13. I just got off the phone with the son of my parent friend from doing food truck on tour. He is open and out and wanted me to read him some of the highlights from this thread. He wanted me to share that every violation of corps policy on PDAs and such comes from the straight members. I think this goes to show you that most of the gay kids on tour are trying to follow the rules and not rock the boat. They seem to know they represent a minority group and want to be good examples. This is my theory, not his. Also this proves that Gays are perfect beings and never make mistakes.
  14. Good to know, I think the Guard score going up will prove to be the difference of one or two places in the end.
  15. I have been off for about 5 minutes after we all crashed the board.
  16. Anyone else see the show recently? I too love the music. It is not often you hear Mozart and Shoenberg on the field at all let alone together. Not a lot of corps could pull off a show like this and while it has flaws major props for the attempt and we still don't know where it will place.
  17. I have not seen it in a while but doesn't the movie end with a mass crucifiction (sp?) along the Appian Way? Could they work in a bit of Pines of Rome?
  18. In Roman times slaves could have been any ethnicity or skin color. Once again having a History degree on DCP seldom does any good but I will take the chance whenever I can to use it here.
  19. A lot of the other corps have one of these and this year it seems like the team from Tempe is in need of a little love and props for what they are doing this summer with what has been termed a "monster" of a show. Great job today in Atlanta!!! Keep up the great work and clean, clean, clean!!!
  20. Ugh! I hate not having Fan Network this year!!!!
  21. Well put!!! I have stayed out of this one becuase I only have the experience of tour from the perspective of a volunteer. A word of advice to the few narrow minded people left in the Druum Corps. Without the contribution of the LGBT community in this activity (from the beginning when we were likely all in the closet to today) you would not like what is on the field. Our community is an integral part of what makes Drum Corps great (and the Arts in general) and we will never go away or go back. I wish more minority communities contributed too but that is another topic. Also, soon we will be talking about "real" marriges for gay and lesbian couples that have sprung from Drum Corps participation if we don't have a few already.
  22. Is it break time? I guess I should go to the gym and get back in time for the paosting of the afternoon scores.
