  1. Some punk kid from Batavia who didn't know how to read his birth certificate ... :-)
  2. Leo ... how have you been? ... You don't know how many times Jomba showed me the Drum Judge's sheet from that 73 WO Finals ... one of his proudest accomplishments as an instructor ... Be well, Andy
  3. Certainly ... he was the 1965 VFW National Tenor Drum Champion ... after the Royal Lancers, he marched in the Bpt PAL for a few years ... then one year with the Hurcs: 1972 ... C'mon ... Vic or, Fish ... you have to remember him ... :-)
  4. I'm fairly certain that the Brassmen took second to the Bridgemen at the World Open, not the CYO in 73 ... they folded at the end of 73 ... Andy
  5. Melvin Wheeler ... played cymbals then switched to baritone ... there's a pic of him in DCN bending over backwards as he twirled his cymbals ... he lives down south now and plays with the PCP Alumni every so often ... Andy "How'd I ever remember that!" Lisko
  6. St. Ann's from Bridgeport had the green shorts ... the Royal Lancers wore blue shorts ... BTW ... the other three guys all marched with St. Ann's before the Royal Lancers ... Andy
  7. Well ... almost ... I was with the Bpt. PAL ... we all did have a common "first" instructor though - Earl Sturtze ... :-)
  8. Actually, it was a Nancy ... just not our Nanci (with an i) ... she was the CT Yankees mascot and appeared in several DCN pics courtesy of Moe ... Nancy Lynne Urban was her name ... the pic is from the early 60's ... :-)
  9. No, I'm not sure ... one of those "fokelore" things that follow people/corps around ... Dorittie would definitely know the answer ... :-)
  10. Yup ... Wayne marched in the Smithtown Frelancers ... he may have even started in the Oceanside Legionnaires and then migrated over to Smithtown ... definitely in Sun in 69 and the out to SCV in 70 playing the same OTL solo in Procession of the Nobles, I think ... Andy
  11. Wow ... did that pic bring back memories ... that crew is the original eight contestants at the the 1st GAS I&E show in 1988. Back row: Mike Delvecchio, Pepe, me Front row: Bill Boerner, Cossetti, Mike Snow, BellaRosa, Bob Redican, Jr. Andy
  12. Right you are Jimmy C ... at the early GAS Reunions, we used to hand out sheets with the words to all the songs sung about all the corps - Greasy Sombreros and all ... LOL ... in fact, I have the video from the 88 GAS with Archie's Chorus leading the way as prompted by some little street urchin ... hmmm ... wonder who that could have been!!!! LOL
  13. Wow ... and all the time I thought it was a new set of teeth like Bucky got ... like I told him, "I think they make you look taller" ... :-)
  14. Ya ya ... so so ... ten cents will do da trick ... not worth much more ... LOL ... :-)
  15. HAHA ... whoever wrote that cleavage remark obviously hasn't danced with you "up close and personal" ... HOKEY SMOKEY!!!! Andy "Dance tickets available: two lines - no waiting" Lisko
  16. Hmmm ... I would venture a guess that Archie's "We Are The Musketeers" might eclipse even Garbarina ... Jimmy C - post the words for us ... quite stirring when they used to sing it on stage and standstills ... the rendition on their "Champions" studio recording album was superb ... Andy
  17. Christ, Nanc ... Ron leaves you alone to cook the bird on T-day and you're out at a parade hawking beads and shakos ... YIKES!!!! ... :-)
  18. HAHA ... good one Jim ... I skipped the HS and college route (of playing) and went right to the BIGS (NY Skyliners) out of the Bpt. PAL Cadets ... that's just the way it was in Northeast drum corps in the 60's ... ask anyone from the Hurcs, Sky, Reading, Hawthorne, Sun, etc. from that era .... Andy "and i never looked back" Lisko
  19. Hmmm ... looks like a VERY young Duke Cornwell ... :-)
  20. Ah yes ... Christmas Story ... Chinese restaurant staff singing "OHHHH KRAHOMA" ... and ... "SIGHRENT NIGHT" ... Andy "You'll shoot yer eye out" Lisko
  21. Ouch is right Jimmy ... I was at that show and couldn't believe the change in Archie from prior years ... a totally subdued corps and uncharacteristically unprepared ... besides the "no solos" mantra wasn't 65 the "new concert of the week" year? Anyway, I saw Archie a few times that year and they just never seemed to get on track ... the 63 AL Nats cast a die for them that was irreversable ... I don't think they even went to the first DCA Championship that year ... they seemed to rebound somewhat in 66 with the infusion of some Vasella players ... even wore Ballentine's unis at some stage shows ... maybe Jimbalaya can fill us in a little on those years ... Andy
  22. I remember when Konga joined Sky in 72 ... and how his "one liners" were honed under the guidance of Sol Anthony ... well, Sol and Konga are once again raising havoc for Winky and Lefty shooting their barbs and zingers at anyone who happens to be in their line of sight ... he was a Skyliner ... he was loved ... and he will be missed ... time for someone else to "make the donuts" ... RIP Konga ... Andy
  23. Same to you! Can't wait until the I&E season gets into full swing early next year! Andy
