  1. Have to agree Tom. DA is so gifted. First met him in 1995 at the Macy's thing. Worked with the Tbirds for several years. All you really have to do is.....Listen to the Man. Never question him (you can if you want) but......just listen to him. He IS a teacher. Everything he says and does is for a reason and it's not for his own personification. Just sayin........
  2. Really TOM...? I'll be 68 years old in 1 week. I'll luckey to hit the toilet WITH THE SEAT UP. (that reminds me...be right back).
  3. We've only met once, outside the NOW Raddison, so my memorey may not be that good so let's got with: HOT (vs attractive) Personable (vs red hair....) Likes a smoke once in a while (vs cigars) How'my doin'...? LOL. You're a HOOT Nanci. Cya.
  4. Gadget...........many thanks for the play-by-play. Great job as usual. Felt like I was there.
  5. Nanci......current "Extra" is being reduced as I sit at the keyboard following Kevin and his expertice. Who has that much knowledge...(burp !!...sorry)
  6. CABS "G" Bugles. What do you expect..? Just sayin.......
  7. My Bad Gadget. I'm not there, as usual, and I lost an entire day. Also explains the extra 30 pack of Labbatt's in the fridge. Sorry.
  8. I'm confused. Has the Alumni show been moved up? What did I miss? Weather?
  9. Never played an "F" mello. Have been told they slot very well. Owned and played a Getzen G and currently play a Kanstul G. Liked the Getzen really well but found the Kanstul to have a better balance as far as weight and less spit accumulating within the horn compared to the Getzen.
  10. Prelim Recaps before finals have, to my knowledge, never been posted. Think about it.
  11. Performance order, normally, is the reverse of placement order after Prelims. Always been that way to my knowledge. (a.k.a MBI will be on last).
  12. Actually.......that's pretty much the way it is. I&E and Minicorps' is really not recogized as a DCA venue but purely an attraction as a pre-weekend show. As you suggested....it is really only limited to time constraints as not to interfer with the primary pupose of the weekend. Just sayin...........
  13. While I agree with your explanation of the Judges determination, (and I must agree with respect to the total score within the caption limits) the same happened with the Erie Thunderbirds MiniCorps' in 1995. No....I will not dwell on the subject but, we were scored at 100+5. Explanation: It was determined by the judges (I have the voice recording on tape of the Judges confering and agreeing) that we were at least 10 points better than the previous Corps (2nd place) whose score was 95.00. While I personally agree that no Corps' can score above 100 in points....this score is documented and still stands today. They, the Judges, at that time didn't allow enough "wiggle room" I guess. Anyway....CONGRATULATIONS STAR UNITED. 100 is a good thing and well deserved. ("Parts Unknown" did good too)
  14. Looking for Mass Brass and "Parts Unknown" to put the Hurt On. Don't know how yinz two can come so close and not win. I'd be proud to play along with any of you. ENJOY....DON't SUCK !!
  15. I always thought it was because "7" was some sort of Evil number. Now I know better.
  16. The Erie TBirds Alumni's first performance at DCA was in 1992 as an Ensemble where we placed 2nd to "Archie". We felt pretty good about that. Our performance, if you weren't there, was different from the ensemble "Norm" as we had no idea what we were doing. While most, if not all, participating Corps' in this venue were seated with music stands we elected to form a semi-circle....no stands...no music....basically a "Stand-Still" performance. I like to think what the TBIRDS did that night got the collective minds of DCA officials thinking about a new venue. In 1993 a MiniCorps' division of I&E was born. I can't recall the year (somewhere in the mid to late 2000's) the announcer for the MiniCorps' show said, and I quote...."....and here is the group that started all this..". I'd like to think that the Erie Thunderbirds set the first bar (and also winning 6 Minicorps' Championships) but that Star United has raised that bar to the point that this venue is one of the most popular in DCA. I wish ALL this years participants the best. ENTERTAIN ...and HAVE FUN.
  17. Apparently you're just a Phantom fan. I understand. But , did you not hear Carolina Crown 2009 (with their 24 Contra's) and their Opener Claire D'Lune...? (spl check) and how it just melted the crowd? 2010 Madison Scouts and there rendition of Gerswins "Rhapsody in Blue...? Erie people (who have a well documented history in Drum Corps') still appreciate recognizable music. Crown and Scouts provided that. I am not a big fan of DCI.........BUT.......when they play music that I , and many, can relate to......they get my vote. Oh....by the way......when was the last time you had 26 Drum Corps' (in two days) in your town?
  18. Thank you NanciD. FINALLY someone on this chat room (if'n that's what it is) that peeks my interest. No talking about having toast for breakfast, baby photo's (not that there's anything wrong with that) going out to dinner, blah, blah blah............BUT, what I would call a "candid discussion of our activity". JUST SAYIN................
