Dance, dance, dance!!! As Danny Kaye sang in "White Christmas,"....."there doing choreography..." If you want to see old color guard stuff check out the alumni corps. My only observation is, as time moves on, everything changes. What can you do about it? NOTHING! Accept it and move on. Well we all could complain BUT no one listens to us any way, right? Nice being back.

This post jogged my memory about a time...(harp music)....long ago in the 1970's, like '72. We were at some show and one of our new members decided he wanted a sop from the Tri-Town Cadets and stole it. As the bus was pulling out he lowered the case from the window to return it, and we all had a good laugh. He called them a bunch of hicks (Tri Town wore straw hats and plaid shirts, hehehehe).

After speaking with Donny the other day I became more respectful of the Crusaders organization than I have ever had. To know that money is not there and the corps is doing remarkably well...Mike, YOU ARE DEFINITELY MY HERO as is Donny and the staff and the members of the Rochester Crusaders. I hope that your dreams this year come true...God Bless You All! Keith

Ahhhh Endicott, NY.....the first show of my first full season in 1971. I believe Squires won that show, with White Knights (Baltimore), Black Knights, Mark Twain, Lakeview Shoreliners, etc....I remember it like yesterday.

Lawrence Welk accordianist Myron Floren, dead at 85. The band followed him rather than Lawrence. Watch him conduct with his elbows and play at the same time.

This is a cool post! Like sports, any team that wins more than once I, most of the time, dislike. When BD won it the second time I didn't like them. Same for Garfield (Cadets) and even Cavies. It would be nice to see different champions every year and NOT the same top 12. But that would never happen.

I can only imagine. But next month, no matter what place the corps takes...stand up and be proud of the accomplishment that ALL of you have done, from Mike all the way down to the newest member to your support staff and all the alumni who are rooting for you all.

First of all I want to say to Mike Linton, Donny Allen and the rest of the Crusader staff.....thank you. I know, for what? My best drum corps years happened in the 70's and the 2000's. Not to take away from teaching Patriots or the corps in Germany in the 80's, but my couple of years with Cru were very special to me. Not only was it fun but educational. I was planning on marching and teaching with Heat Wave this summer but some unexpected events happened such as my step-son escaping from a re-hab place and my wife and I looking for him and waiting for a phone call. It finally came one night and instead of my wife and I picking him up, we called the police who delivered him back to the center. My step-daughter had a baby boy a few weeks ago and my son is in from Wisconsin. Since being away I enjoy being with my wife. She continues to tell me to do what I love....so I say I am...YOU! Anyways, I have read all the news about Cru and lately was thinking back to those rehearsals and shows and some of the people that I consider good friends of mine. I truly had an amazing time and a wonderful experience and to all you new 2005 Crusaders, I think you have something very special up there and if you give it a little time, and hard work, I truly believe that it will pay off for you real soon. I was hoping that I could somehow get up there to be a Crusader this summer but finances are tight (they always are) and so I will sit at the computer every Monday reading scores and reviews. To Mike and Donny.....You have always been a hero of mine, continue the forward motion To the staff and members....A great man once said, "If you believe you can achieve!" Sledge 1990 I wish you all continue success and if you are ever in the Gulf Coast area let me know.

First of all....I apologize for leaving St. Ignatius Girls off the list. Being from upstate NY I (and others) tend to forget about the Islanders. I would have to say the Iggies did do a fantastic job in All-Girl Class and should be mentioned. But mainly I was looking at corps that I remember in the 70's. Tom Peashey and Dick Hoppe should've have jumped in since they have a better historical perspective of NY drum corps than I do. I just try to get something going and have fun here, nothing more. Please accept my apologies.

If I may...... You young Crusaders need to be careful what you post or better yet, how you word your posts. The other thing is, let the staff take care of these situations either by a phone call or personal e-mail. In other words, don't start fighting over DCP or having discussions in public when they should be in private. Have FUN this summer, get an education and enjoy what you do.

No one had anything weird happen? I find that hard to believe! How about the time in Illinois, staying at a home for troubled boys, we were housed with Emerald Knights and police come flying throught the parking lot chasing a kid who stole a car. He came to the right place hehehehe.

Yeah we beat the Squires too in 1970 at the Penn-York Championships. Next year they started the climb and after St Joe's and Yankees folded it was all them in NY. Our rival was the Lakeview Shoreliners/Imperial Regiment. We heard things weren't going well for them in 1975 and then they merged with this smaller corps (71st Lancers) and became Imperial Regiment. We beat them a few times in 1976 but that was it. They had a very good drum line.

This happened in 1975 in (I believe) St. Clair Shores, MI We (Royal Coachmen-NY) were competing at weekend shows in MI in May. We started our closer of "Garden of Gethsamine" from Jesus Christ Superstar when huge dark clouds came rolling in, the sky began to flash with lightning. We were able to finish the show and the chief judge told us to run for cover as the wind picked up considerably and then the Heavens opened up. Quite exciting!

Marched that show many times and took a few bands and corps there too. John Hathaway use to run that parade. So long ago...............

Yes Argonne Rebels, 80 Spirit of Atlanta and 83 PR but I remember the 1973 PR had a whale of a loud horn line too.

In all your years of corps, who stole your heart? Mine.........back in 1981 I had just gotten out of the Army and ended up marching this little drum corps in NY. I met this girl who I talked into marching. The following week we went to Ithaca for DCE and we were the first corps on and after I carried a full cooler to the top box to watch the rest of the show with the staff. This girl who I met sat almost next to me and I said to her (after a few beers), "do you have a boyfriend?" She said, "No." I then remembered a line from some movie and continued, "would you like one?" About 30 minutes later, she came back to me and said, "yes." For the next 8 weeks I was in heaven. Unfortunately she had to move to Florida. I saw her one weekend at the corps banquet and then saw her 9 years later at her Grandfathers funeral. She became a model in Greece (the country) and was even more beautiful then the last time I saw her. Of course there were other short term girlfriends but she was THE ONE until last year. My wife is my "bestest" friend in the entire universe! Your turn..........
