  1. I have listed my Dynasty 3 valve soprano on ebay. This horn is in very good condition. Happy bidding. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...64&category=620
  2. Kanstul Powerbore is the best soprano around. Period. If you are looking for a marching type trumpet, while I'm sure Wayne and Jeff provided valuable insight, it's still a Dynasty, man. Check out the Kanstul COL103...if it's anything like the LBP470 (the previous marching trumpet by Kanstul and suspiciously very Wild Thing like....for MUCH less!!) then it is another great Kanstul horn. (and the alto bugle you're selling STILL isn't a mellophone) :) Funny. The horn plays in the melophone line, not the soprano section or baritone section. :P FWIW I have it correctly listed on the ebay site. I will have to agree the Kanstul is the king of the jungle as far as horns go. No doubt if I had the bucks I would get a Col 103 but I am able to pick up the Dynasty used from the brass shop for $375. I needed a horn to play in a local Jazz ensemble. I am really surprised that no one here could give me any impute about the Dynasty 2000.It has to be be very popular in Drum corps with Dynasty being such a large player in the game.I figure a lot of the guys that are using them in Drum corps are probably also using them back home in their local bands and Jazz ensembles and I was hoping to pick up some useful field information. I also found a great deal on a Kanstul 610 b flat trumpet .It is brand new and was only $329 bucks. From what I understand it was made up from left over parts from the besson 609 "International" project but not exactly sure about that. I think they are listed for $800 bucks on other websites.
  3. Thanks for the replies. I have a Dynasty bugle and it does seem stuffy compared to the Kanstul Power bore I have. I was just wondering with the outside influence of Jeff and Wayne in the design process would it be any better.?
  4. Anyone have any experience with the Dynasty M2000S trumpets? I found a good deal on one and I wonder if this horn would make a acceptable trumpet for Jazz ensembles and pep type bands? Are there any corps members out there playing them both on the field and in the concert halls? Ive been to trumpet herald and didn't find the kind of information I was looking for.I was hoping someone here could help me.
  5. haha, it took me a bit to realize what you meant by BD.....I was like "You're gonna ask the Blue Devils? Huh?" BD = band director lol Oh, also, I think you should still march drum corps this summer :) If you are worried about missing drill in band camp, DON'T. Trust me, after marching a summer of drum corps, you'll be so much faster and mor efficient at learning drill than the other high school students that you'll catch up in NO time. You will most likely catch up and surpass your fellow band members within a week or two of returning. You shouldn't have to miss your senior year at all! You could march in a Division 2 or 3 corps in your area, and then try out for Crown next fall like you are originally planning... I second that. :P

  11. I was concerned about getting that "good seal" that you were talking about. I was just wondering if any sop players had a problem with it.
  12. What affect if any does a mustache or beard have with your embouchure?
  13. AS a come back player (20 years away from the horn) I had to sit back and access what it was I wanted to accomplish in my first year back in the saddle. Realistically being a lead player this year was not a priority or a reality. We have some very gifted sopranos on our hornline that have never put down their horn and are fabulous players.Any one of them could go out and be lead player in any corps. I realized very early what I needed to accomplish.I wanted to be a very solid 3rd soprano player and give my best effort to the part. Not having the funds to hire a private instructor I decided on three basic things that I want to accomplish. 1.Improve intonnation 2.Improve endurance 3.Improve reading skills I started by reading as much information as I could from drum corps web sites and trumpet websites. Then I seaked the advice of the proffessionals and experianced lead horn players. The list of suggestions were very long but there were three things that kept getting repeaded by the experianced lead players over and over again. A.Lip Slurs B.20 min G exersise C.Solid warm ups and cool downs. Following this great advice I start my day with a 20 min G exersice and then follow that by lip slurs out the wazoo and then on to practice music.I finish each practice much the way it started with more Lip slur's,scales and a final 20 min G cool down. I have noticed a vast improvment in the last 30 days in Intonnation and Endurance. Also as consolation prize I have even gone from a solid C above the staff to a solid FF and crunching out a weak gg and sometimes straining a AA. I am still a long way away from where I was but I am starting to feel some real confidence in myself and my horn.
