  1. uh...neither i've hear good things about xeno but i still wouldn't get it and i will never ever touch a bach horn for the rest of my life...i absolutly despise them. If you take 4 horns of one model they all play differently. shilke's are okay getzen is up and comming but leblanc purchased a company based from france that i consider to be the best horns ever. its called coutois and if you wanna know more just pm me.
  2. well personally solid players or the foundation and screamers are the iceing on the cake. I can play solid all day long when when its right i love screaming the double g's and c's. but thats just my opinion of course
  3. hey i've been playing trumpet all my life. i know more about the trumpet than the back of my hand. So shoot me an e-mail or pm or something and i'll get you hitting the ground running
  4. as far as bach strads go they are inconsistent. You can play 3 or 4 and they all are differen't. My preference is either yamaha xeno or a brand call coutois they evolution trumpets are amazing just simply awesome.
  5. man at first your topic title scared me...i was like uh trumpet mics....if a trumpet player needs mics they should not be playing trumpet. But then i saw recording and i said ok good. Go to either wwbw.com or musciansfriend.com the second site has a lot of options for mics. my preference is having a padded mic (the outer coating is a type of padding)
  6. the question is simple...what was the first horn you played/ learned on. i have some holton that i got at a yard sale :D i still have it and i love it. i have total control over it i still play it from time to time.
  7. yea i've used that red oil stuff once or twice and i like it....but i don't like it as much as fast al cass i refuse to usa anything but that. I've tried blue juice and i don't like it. al cass is great for slides and valves.
  8. Exactly....the mouthpiece you buy was designed for that goal in mind weither it be a moutpiece for screamers or classical players. Most (good) mouthpieces are too expensive to mess up. Simple as this....if you can't find the mouthpiece you want theres something wrong.
  9. ok thanks but the request is still on the table if anyone is selling their sop i'm sitll interested
  10. yea i play sop. and personally i hate to be heard when i practice and i found that mutes work just as well as those silent brass systems.
  11. hey i'm looking for either fairly new g sop or a well kept one....anybody got one? dynasty or kanstul preffered
  12. yea thats all it really is...a trick i learned how to do it late middle school years and the only time i've found a use for it was when a band director had us do long tones and he just said ok just hold the note out as long as you want. I used it then and i never lost . other than that it really does sacrifice tone quality. other than that its a fun trick to inpress people with or if you wanna play the digeredoo or however you spell it.
  13. the one and only...courtois though its french it is a great horn excelent response excelent sound upper register and a nice centered tone... leblanc's web site has it on there it is worth just checking out....once you've played one of these you will fall in love.... b**bs
