  1. I marched the 1992 Macy's, Star of Indiana sponsored Pride of Drum Corps. It was a truly an unforgettable time. We spent 3 days practicing at the armory in Teaneck, NJ learning drill and going over the music we received before we all got together. We did a camera run through the night before the parade. After we blasted our horns into the cameras, one of the camera men peered out from his camera after we were done playing and with a puzzled face asked, "what are you guys"? We received loud cheers from the crowds during the parade. I also can't forget and cannot believe how we were all taken out to dinner one night to Mama Leone's and then the whole corps heading to Radio City Music Hall to see the Christmas show. We were even served a turkey dinner after the parade. Thanks again Bill Cook/ Star of Indiana! I saw the parade live this year and all the marching bands were very good. I did notice how must of them had a corps style now. There was even an all age marching band called the Second Time Arounders I posted some pics below of the 92 parade. Donny, do you recognize anyone in the pics? :-)
  2. LOL! Man, you know more Bushwackers than I realized. And you named more than a few who are definitely HOF material.
  3. I plan on coming. Jerome, r u definitely coming as well? I think Dick may head over . Yeah, I know, I said.....
  4. It is proper to refer to a team in the singular form. It's very funny.......... I had this conversation with a Lancer friend in the 80's :-)
  5. Now all they need is Jim Prime and Mike Klesch to come aboard and they'll be all set for 2009. :-) Wishful thinking?
  6. I'm startin' to feel all the love again......it's very moving. Pun intended
  7. Is there a clip of "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree"? I enjoyed sitting next to you and chatting at prelims
  8. There must have been no auditions this year for Kyle to get the solo!...... Must have been that YEA feeder corps experience that got you it
  9. I WAS wondering where the Boston curse would find its new home
  10. Congrats Dan, Dave and to the staff and members of the Buccaneers! I had a chance to watch the corps in early August and I was blown away. If I weren't such a die-hard Bushwacker, I would be proud to be associated with your corp.
  11. That's great.....but Zingali and Sylvester were on our staff and wrote our drill in 1984 (along with Cesario...... who designed our unis the same year). Actually, I have a lot of respect for the Sunrisers of that era. That was the only corp that I could have seen myself in if I were not in Bush.
  12. Disappointed that whenever a section was doing anything technical, they stopped to do it. Please, show me some movement while playing. Its easy to move and play quarters and eighths, but do some of that stuff moving. I want to preface this and say that I admire that you state your opinion without regard to being politically correct. It kind of makes me sick to read all those fluffy reviews where every corp is wonderful. And I am thankful that you took the time to write a review. With that said, I too will respond without regard to being pc. I have to first say you are highly inaccurate with regard to the above quote. First off, it's the Bushwackers who 'wrote the book' in DCA on challenging drill with demanding music. With regard to the 2006 Bushwackers' brass, it's ridiculous to say that whenever we do anything technical we stop. I'm guessing you are referring to the features in the opener. Thanks for the complement, but those 'technical' features are just as easy to play moving or standing still, at least for me. Throughout the opener and even more so in the closer of Rocky Point Holiday, our hornline 'shows you some movement' while playing many notes at fast tempos and with demanding drill. I'm sure there is no one in DCA who is even coming close to this.
  13. That is too funny! You beat me to the punch, Donny. I was gonna mention Apple Tree too :-) ( I used to always hum Apple Tree to Donny wheneve I saw him). Thanks for the nice words. And Btw, 3 out of the 4 names you mentioned are back with Bush for the 25th Anniversary! Dave jumped ship.
  14. Oh, so no auditions this year? :P And Dennis, stop beating around the Bush and say what you mean :)
  15. Ok, make me beg and fall right into this. What is the rumor? Cause, I want to be happy :-)
  16. LOL! Yep,I have rubber grip soles with little "G"'s and "We eat bananas" graphics all over my one piece practice pj. :-) Let's see. Whose marching techinque does Bush's most resemble? Would it be Cadets or the Bananamen?
  17. Feb. is cool.....way to go Mary! Who says I wear anything when I practice? :)
  18. Maybe we can start fitting for uniforms at the next camp? ....especially since the parade in March is right around the corner. I mean, this is by far the most organized Bushwackers I have marched with....... from finishing the opener AND closer by mid January and then to have lunch prepared for us at the camps. I figured it is not too far fetched to continue the trend and to start getting the unis to fit perfectly by the parade?! Also a chance for all those new members to get to feel what it is to wear the Bushwacker uniform!
