  1. and for the record, my corps DID rehearse it and played it that night correctly best as I could tell.
  2. I dont think we'll see one again. the new "event marketing" gurus seems to think we need rock/pop music, lights, fog, fireworks etc.
  3. it's also a discussion in several places about the indoor activity.
  4. DCA is slowly growing in interest around the region, tho the number of corps on G brass is shrinking a little more every year. the problem with ALl Age is it's still very new in many areas outside of the NE, so it will take time to grow, but it is growing
  5. I do think the Under Armour tie in would be a huge boost for DCI. It's become a hugely popular brand with a spring line, summer line, winter line etc. In fact I discovered it seeing kids I teach wearing it when the weather got cold. There is untapped potential there.
  6. maybe he wants to understand and in turn, get more interested. Jim's not a #####er so to speak like you are blasting. he's a guy interested in the history and seeing all points of view, which in turn, may lead to more interest than he currently has
  7. God you should have been on the field at DCA Finals in 96 for the tune they rolled out. I remember hearing roll out the barrels, Rush, the Rumps, NYNY F tuning and 3 drum exercises plus the tune
  8. believe it or not, listening to people around me, it goes hand in hand. there are many shows I dont "get" but can enjoy on some level, even if it means a bathroom break. but to more than a few, it does go hand in hand, especially with older fans. but no, guards aren't more feminine
  9. and by the way, I happen to think guard design almost always matches what is required by the show and in no way makes anyone look "feminine"
  10. I agree...those shows were great songs that anyone on planet earth could enjoy. and man were those drumlines smokin
  11. not always enough given the chop and bop arranging styles currently en vogue
  12. ok. so we know the little one was a superstar in 1994, and the corps had pop goes the weasal in the show. which means at least I know the corps, but for those on here who don't follow DCi that closely, it could be a cross to bear figuring out who it is
  13. it pertains to a lot discussed in here tho, hence I carried it over.
  14. BD, Bluecoats, last year especially, in 08 the Cadets for more than a few around me...and 06 too. but I do know many older fans that don't "get it" after multiple viewings, and even some my age, and they get tired of hearing people say "you should learn about it before you go". They just want to go, be entertained and go home, not do homework before to make sure they "get it"
  15. when you know what they yelled at Star in 90. When you know who Melissa is from 2001. when you read DCP in the summer and say to yourself "wow Ream and Lance were merciless tonight" When you debate which version of the Bottle Dance was better in 92..VK or SCV when you debate who had the better Malaguena in 88, VK or Madison When you can name at least 3 corps who played Children of Sanchez in 1979 when you remember Lee Rdunicki closing down RAMD with his anger after the 1997 Vegas meetings
  16. you are basically said if people don't get it it is their fault. I'll disagree. people shouldn't have to feel the need to do research before they go to a show to "get it"
  17. so, by your logic, if the audience doesn't understand, it is their fault. I'll disagree. A lot of people go to shows to be entertained, and don't want to feel like they have to research going to a show just to "get it"
  18. 64 degrees here, thank God. so nanci was I close with my earlier guesses about the little one?
