  1. one time? sorry, i judge local band circuits, and we talk, but never do we say "ok so and so sucks so lets put em here" and i think DCI judges are the same. yes that one time was wrong. and i am pretty sure it was an isolated incident
  2. i agree if more legacy fans were around, DCI would have attendance figures so high they would crow with disclaimers such as "like events"
  3. after the pit run n the drum solo, you can hear the whole audience suck in air during the silent rifle launch...and upon the re-entry of the corps, the crowd explosion is one of 5 i will never forget being a part of.
  4. Jay on behalf of all of us here with the Westshoremen, please accept our condolences and prayers to you and your family.
  5. 70/30. all performance captions these days discuss way too much design
  6. yeah a whole whopping 20 points. thats one GE caption alone. so 2 GE judges are twice what 3 performance..or 4 if the upstairs perc guy is in use...in terms of affecting the total number.
  7. well since they have basically said if the legacy fan goes, oh well...
  8. talking yes, but in the post above, it's as if they plan to put corps x in a certain spot that night. i just cant see it being so pre determined
  9. if anything, i'd get an upstairs brass guy back up there plus the field, average the GE's and give the guard, 2 drum and 2 brass guys more weight.
  10. design has bled over into the performance captions, and in some circuits, the what gets more points than the how
  11. well....when i hear a GE music tape, i always hear how the visual helps sell the music...but i rarely hear on a GE visual tape how the music helps the visual as far as impacto points etc. that GE is not averaged but performance is is a scary trend. GE does seem to be more talking about the what than the how

  13. exactly. watching this thread, i felt like i was at a #### fight. brian does what he does out of the goodness of his heart. he has no agenda, and let's face it, when it comes to hunior corps, you have 2 distinct eras seperated by one year: before 72 after 72 and, IMO, since all pre DCI history is an after thought when discussing history anymore, 72 is a great place to start.
  14. ok question...have these judges actually been caught predetermining placements? I really cant picture this gand conspiracy over the bad continental breakfast over who goes where that night
  15. John, No problem...looking forward to seeing you guys at both shows!
